Halo Wars Colour Options

I felt back in the original Halo Wars that not being able to choose your colour in private matches was a huge dissapointment. After playing Halo Wars constantly I eventually got bored of being purle and green 24/7. I think if they made it where you were able to choose yoyr colour in private matches, it’d make the game 10x better and less boring because you wouldn’t be the same colour constantly and just adds a mixture to the game. If 343 make Halo Wars 2 have colour options, that’d make the game for me. Please leave a comment if you agree with me and would find it a lot more fun to play as different colours when playing private matches, cheers!

A color change… “make the game 10x better and less boring”

I think you have bigger issues if your colour choice dictates whether or not you are having fun.

It was fun but playing as the same colour 24/7 just got repetetive. If you haven’t noticed almost every single other strategy game apart from Halo Wars allows you to choose your colour.

I am 100% sure there will be color options. Halo Wars having no color options bothered me as well especially when like every other RTS game has it. But with Halo Wars 2 and CA developing it we will finally get our first real well made Halo RTS so i expect color options to be there.

I hope so, I can’t wait to see some gameplay or another reveal trailer. They better have private matches in Halo Wars 2 because in Halo 5 we are so limited, you can’t even go into forge without Xbox Live and you can’t use Custom Games and they removed splitscreen. So if they don’t have private matches in Halo Wars 2 and it’s required to have Xbox Live or else you can’t play at all, I will seriously go mad.

I would be fine with something like the army painter from Dawn of War. If they went to that level of customization. I can see some people using the UNSC but coloured in a way it make them look like the Insurrectionists if we don’t have that faction for HW2.

I agree, it can be the little things that get very boring over and over. there probably will be color change to it but only one way to find out.

It bothered me quite a bit too to be honest. I think they should either let you choose your colours or have the colours relevant to the unit and their rank, eg: a minor ranked grunt would have orange armour, a major elite would have crimson/red armour etc.

Yeah but if players are playing as the same character, you wouldn’t be able to tell who is who, so you need a mixture of colours like how it was in Halo Wars Online. But being able to choose your colour would make me a lot happier with the game and I am telling you, it’d make it more enjoyable as well.

Starcraft 2; the undisputed king of RTS’s, does not allow custom colours. You are assigned a colour, or you can choose friend-or-foe colours as an options toggle. Regardless, you enemies/allies will still see you as your predetermined colour.

Custom colours is unnecessary in an RTS. It wouldn’t hurt anything, but it doesn’t affect gameplay, so it’s hardly something to pine for.

I agree I love the dawn of war serious and I love how everyone was more unique but still differenced from opponents such should be in the game. But tbh the color Change didnt truly bother me

  1. I hate StarCraft 2) Do you know how simple it is to implement colours in a game? Not very hard, so if having colour options will make the game more interesting then why not? 3) If you have played Halo Wars you’d know how dull seeing the same colour over and over again gets.

If I’ve played Halo Wars… Yeah I’ve played Halo Wars. Extensively.

Color change has absolutely no effect on gameplay. That’s why I don’t care about it. But yes, it wouldn’t take much effort to include it as an option much like it was in Age of Empires.

I’m not against its inclusion, I just don’t understand the big deal being made about it, especially the claims about color changes making it more fun.

I agree with Rudy color doesn’t determine your having fun or not. I mean really color matters what is this the 1950 like y lol but for real y does color matter so much let’s pick total war you don’t chose your color it’s set that’s how you know who’s what faction. Like I get you want a deference but halo wars is fun your not always the say color -excluding campaign and skirmish- I mean come on really colors the issue like no I want more balance like for example 1scareb and then rest cap engineers. No balance to that tag not with out grinding it slowly so that’s a issue not the damn color people

What would be cool is like a primary/secondary choice. Maybe I dunno, but I’m all for choosing a colour instead of being forced one. Hopefully this time around the colours are a little less super vibrant.

Sorry this is a late incoming response, but Starcraft 2 Definitely DOES have the option to choose your own color. I play a LOT of SC and SC2.
That being said, I do agree with both sides of this, personally I MUCH rather prefer when RTS’ allow you to pick your own color, I always have preferred it and always will. HOWEVER, it is indeed not completely necessary, ive never known myself or anyone else to stop playing (or not play at all) due to not being able to pick your own color. But again, I would much rather prefer it, as it is quite refreshing sometimes lol

*EDIT: You may be thinking of the Original Starcraft. That game was uncustomizable when it comes to colors. I know this because after playing it repeatedly for 10+ years I started REALLY getting picky and would restart matches (only if I was skirmishing against A.I.s) just to get the color I wanted lol but that was only because it was against A.I.s and the loading time for restarting a skirmish map was Literally a second lol

When playing online, Starcraft 2, standard competitive league play, there is no color choosing [besides the Friend-or-Foe color scheme from the options menu]. You are assigned a random color upon the match start. I’m not talking about custom games.

OOHHHH sorry didn’t realize you meant league play, fair point!

Glad we are speaking the same language now

Watch that video of dawn of war Dark crusade. This is how it should be not complicated but goes in character models really good.
