I have not played Halo Wars co-op before. Just curious if co-op made the game any easier of if there is no differance.

It doesn’t really make a difference to the AI at all. You share units rather than having your own bases like you would in multiplayer.
On the one hand, if you and your partner are co-ordinated, the possibility to deal with two different threats can be useful in some missions (e.g. one focuses on defence of the base, the other focuses on the offensive objective) but the trade off is that you may not have the units/resources available to you for your plan, since as mentioned, you share units, population cap, resources etc.
It’s certainly an interesting way to play but I didn’t enjoy it personally. I’d rather co-ordinate with players armies in multiplayer because then I have complete control over my units etc.
It can make missions easier and/or more interesting. Since there are two minds and two screens working, you can, for example, attack an enemy base on two fronts without having to switch back and forth between armies. Essentially, it makes management easier.
