I loved Halo Wars 1 and its art style. I am also loving the art of Halo Wars 2. What do you guys think of the art and should 343 try and replicate this art style for Halo 6 (a more gritty, metallic look). The weaponry, the vehicles and the characters have amazing art work in Halo wars. I understand its Blur Studio working its magic with CGI but I really think 343 can at least use the art style for future FPS game drops.
The in-game art style needs some improvements, particularly with the colouring and bases. Especially the bases. But otherwise it’s nice and simple, I would say cartoonish like a lot of people do. It’s not really that cartoonish. I believe creative assembly can do some improvments onto it to make the gameplay work better in the full release. As for Halo 6, I would love to see a it be a little more grittier.
I think in its current state its cartoony but would be shocked if in 8 months time it came out looking the same way
It looks very similar to the original Halo Wars, which was also slightly cartoonish, more due to the vibrant colors though which I’m all for. Please don’t make it dull.
I agree the base art could use some work, and obviously the game needs a lot more optimization
Yes I do agree the gameplay looks kind of cartoonish but I like the designs of the vehicles and weapons (old style) in both the gameplay and the cutscenes. I feel the way blur studios designs the aesthetics of the armor, elites, brutes, weapons etc is more original halo like and a lot more gritty.
I like the art style of weapons and units too, they actually look like they fit in the Halo universe, unlike 343’s awful armor designs. I bet I’ll even like HW2 story more than H4 & H5.

I really like the art style, reminds me more of Halo 3, and I’ve always preferred the simpler, cleaner look of the older games, I personally find most of new styles in H4/5 (Spartan armour in particular) very over-designed and “busy”.
The Brute bases in this game I particularly like, fits in very well to canon I feel. Wondering what Covie/Promethean bases might look like (assuming both are playable)
Only (admittedly nit-picky) gripe I really have is the UNSC Snipers don’t appear to be using the classic sniper? Though of course this could just be placeholder as it’s just the beta…

Ya it is a bit cartoony but maybe once textures and colors are more refined it will look much better on both PC ad Xbox one. I was more praising the actual designs and shapes of armor and weapons. In the cutscenes, the brutes look closer to cannon and more intelligent.
For cutscenes I really think Blur does a great job for both this game so far and Halo2A. As for gameplay. I like the vehicle designs but yes I agree that the colors are a bit too vibrant, maybe make them more a Halo Reach type color scheme.
