Halo Wars 3? or HW2 DLC

Given that both Halo Wars games were pretty well received and have a solid fanbase, I would expect to see a Halo Wars 3 at some point, but probably not for a while. It was a while between HW1 and HW2.

The issue there is 343 only really handled HW2 as publisher, the dev effort was 3rd party (non-XGS) studios which will have been more expensive to develop.

Hence, why it’s likely we won’t be seeing a Halo Wars 3 for some time. If Infinite continues to have trouble regaining fans’ trust however, MS might get Creative Assembly (or perhaps their own Forgotten Empires studio in charge of the Age of Empires series as a homage to the OG Halo Wars being made by Ensemble Studios) to create HW3 as a way to try and gain goodwill again, much like HW2 did after Halo 5.

Agree entirely that’s the most straightforward route, but even then I thorought Forgotten Empires is more of an independent support studio?

Without in-house dev effort, I just can’t see it happening, especially when they rejected CA’s HW3 pitch a few years back

Hmm, looking into it, looks like you’re correct. I would’ve thought MS would have bought up Forgotten Empires, given how the Age of Empires series has been their flagship RTS series and FE has been working on it since the OG Steam port of AOE2: HD Edition. But it appears they aren’t owned by MS.

Indeed. Just an ‘official supplier’. However, that said, the outsourcing model also brought us many excellent games and franchises over the years such as Gears of War (Epic) and Halo (Bungie were already well into development)

Dam halo infinite
Halo wars 1 and 2 way better

Yeah, it’s a shame Halo Wars 3 got rejected by 343i. And now it doesn’t even matter because 343i has already ruined any potential by making it so you’d need to read the books to understand what’s going on if there ever was a 3, and they ruined Atriox’s character and the Banished as well by writing them themselves now. Halo Wars 2 was partially as good as it was because of how dejected from the failures of the mainline series, but now it’s been infected like the franchise as a whole. They really can’t help but ruin everything they touch.

Just getting back into the game. It’s criminally underrated and Micro/343 ought to be ashamed for their treatment (or lack thereof) of this little gem. I don’t care about the “all hands on deck” concerning Infinite–there must be headroom somewhere for small, consistent patches. If not (absurd), then they need to pull another team in to maintain the game. It’s beyond embarrassing. Lower the price, bring it to Steam for player population, and make small balances over time… that’s all I’m asking for–and it’s the least that could be done for Halo. After all, look at the state of MCC. Sigh. SMH.

I LOVE empire at war, but no, the space/land transition was NOT seamless. Literally different categories of levels, and there was no transition. You would complete one level, then the next would load and it would be in space or something.

I’m also looking forward to the XBOX version of AgeOfEmpire,
I would like you to cherish HALO WARS 2 more.

Well. Hopefully the number of strategy games released on the Xbox ecosystem (both console and PC) and the game pass for PC Market may help here

Well I guess what I meant is that in concept, a seamless RTS transition between land and space encounters would be awesome. Imagine they’re not even different levels but at any given time you could manage your fleet above the planet or your army on the ground. Resource management would have to be split between both fronts and your ability to deploy new pre-fab buildings or units would depend on your space superiority above the battlefield. Likewise you could order your fleet to do an orbital bombardment which would in turn effect units on the ground. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that model effectively implemented in a game before but I could definitely see where it would be perfect HW3

If it is an expansion of HALO WARS 2,
I want you to draw the end of the AI war.
New leaders are Cortana, Warden Eternal,
A story that leads to Infinite, depicting the destruction of the planet Doisac and the settlement with Cortana, with Atriox as the main character.

There are many stories between HW2 and Infinite that are not drawn in the game, so
I’m also curious about Anders’ whereabouts and the SOF crew’s aftermath.

Well think of it this way: if the US military is landing troops on a beach somewhere and those troops are engaged in hostilities, isn’t managing those troops and their objectives the responsibility of the officers who are with the troops on the ground? The carrier strike group isnt going to micromanage a beachhead from miles and miles away with no situational awareness, they’re going to be busy managing a naval battle! Best case, troops will call in ordnance fire or air support, but thats it. And we already have that.
Your thing doesnt make sense and would dilute both the base gameplay and any space engagement gameplay.
If they did a focused expansion, I could see that working.

I came up with a DLC idea for Halo Wars 2 to connect to Halo Infinite.

Character limit is too much to handle for this forum’s textboxes so I will just add the link to my reddit post on r/HaloStory.

Basically, it is a concept idea of mine on how a DLC pack could be added to Halo Wars 2 in order to bring the cast from Halo Wars into Halo Infinite’s setting.

Halo wars 1 and 2 were made allot of years apart. We was lucky to get a sequel at all.

But I do believe we are long over due a halo wars 3. Unfortunately 343I are becoming an unreliable company.

If Atriox puts out the process of cornering Cortana in DLC,
Being able to connect the story of HALO INFINITE from HALO WARS2
It’s so much fun…

That would be very interesting indeed… But it seems like they would need to be deep into development for that to be possible

This game should at least get performance updates for Series S/X and a steam release, alongside with bug fixes.
But a story dlc that connects with Infinite and/or continues the story at the point where cortana pulled the ring out of slipspace with a guardian would also be great
