Anyone see this happening? I think it would fill in all if any gaps and it would get people engaged in the Halo Wars Series. And if it’s right there in front of players faces more people might be more likely to buy it.
I can see that happening. Halo Infinite is a live service, it’s supposed to be supported for ten years. Hence, if 343i does HW3 or another spin-off (metroidvania, pretty please!) in that timeframe, it would be logical to acknowledge that in Infinite. At the very least I’d expect a multiplayer map based on that game. For example, many fans are hoping that there will be a standout mode akin to Warzone in Halo 5 that involves massive battles between the USNC and the Banished. Maybe you could play the same battle both in Halo Wars 3 and in Halo Infinite from different perspectives.
My only problem with that is Halo Wars is a RTS while Infinite is a FPS, so it wouldn’t really make sense as a DLC. It could be nice as it’s own game though.
With Halo Wars 2’s story merging with the main series, I think a third game in the series isn’t likely. That isn’t to say we won’t see characters from the spin-off being the centre of some future DLC, however. I wouldn’t say “no” to playing as Jerome, Alice, or Douglas, in a first-person experience.
If another RTS game came out I think I would prefer it to be a stand-alone title. I’m a sucker for Limited Collector Editions and the extra goodies that come with them, and I prefer to own physical copies (Especially when it’s Halo related).
