A bit abrupt, but we may get considerably more story with the Campaign DLC. I think when all is said and done, the final ending of Halo Wars 2 will tie directly to the opening of Halo 6. I wouldn’t be surprised if this overlap point was the Infinity showing up at the Ark, due to it being the only staging area outside of Cortana’s sphere of influence.

I thought the ending sucked! They build up this tension and anticipation in before the game is released and then you play through the whole campaign and Atriox makes an appearance at the beginning and end. I feel like very ad they but out for Halo Wars 2 was actually an ad for Halo Wars 3 since there was no direct battle with Atriox. I was very disappointed. Another thing, the scene where Isabel takes over the Enduring Conviction’s main weapon and gets the sentinels to destroy the ship looked cool but was overall stupid. I feel like if it was Cortona, before she went psycho, she would have closed off the room with the Spartan in it and opened everything else. Once all rooms and corridors were open she would have then vented all of the atmosphere out of the ship, literally KILLING EVERYTHING ON THE ENTIRE SHIP, with the exception of the Spartan because one he’s sealed off from the effects and two his suit would protect him anyways. Then not only would she have killed all of those enemies on the ship but now she has a nice shiny ship that she could glass Atriox and the rest of his remaining army with. In fact I’m pretty sure that is exactly what she would have done because she’s done it before, well at least the venting everyone out of the ship part (read the books). The only thing I could think that would hold back Isable is she may not be as advance of an A.I. as Cortona (again, before she went psycho) but even then all she has to do is open and close doors and the shields in the dropship bays.

Oh she’s just as advanced, but she’s not military, she’s sort of civilian. She was thinking in a civilian way to exact revenge on the Enduring Conviction, I guess.

And I have mixed feelings regarding that ending. The campaign in general felt like it could’ve used more cinematics as well, to tell a deeper story that what was told in each “Mission Briefing”.

What confuses me is Halo CE blerp on the original cover of the game.

“Master chief, last of his kind” blue team is still alive!
beyond that the story was good, ending of HW2 was interesting with the Gardian showing up at the end, meaning at the end of Halo 5 Cortana saw a halo ring being that of the Halo Wars 2 ending. It ties nicely together.

I think it’s tied in nicely with where H5 left off. Wouldn’t surprise me if the Banished show up in H6, hopefully we get to dominate Atriox with the big dog Sierra 117.

And I agree! I really want there to be a big war with the forerunners, what’s left of the covenant, the banished, The UNSC, and the Swords of Sangheilios

Not every enemy is inside that ship, they needed to destroy it one way or another. Having all its crew killed wouldn’t have helped as much as destroying the whole ship.

I said they would have killed every enemy that was on the ship, not every enemy completely. If you read the whole post you would’ve read the part where they could have taken over the ship and used it against the Banished. They could also rig the ship to blow (in the way Cortona and the Chief have several times in the games alone) in the event that the Banished attempt to retake the ship and are successful in their endeavor. It has been awhile since I’ve read the books so I may be a little off, but at one point in time they are able to join a Human and Covenant ship together. If I remember correctly it is after the events of the first Halo and if a Spartan, an AI, and a handful of Marines can accomplish this than I’m pretty sure several Spartans, an AI, and approximately half of the crew of an entire UNSC ship would be able to accomplish this as well.

I thought she referenced herself as just a “logistics ai”. Not sure where this falls on the spectrum of ai capabilities but they made a point of saying it.
I may be misreading the subtleties but I had a feeling while watching this cutscene that there is something slightly sinister about isabel.

The ending was appropriate since they plan to do stroy DLC.
However I do hope that the DLC brings more cutscenes with it, I was a little disappointed that the campaign only has 28 minutes of cinematics.
