I mean, it is a part of what’s happening in the universe right now. So, yeah, its absolutely going to have a big impact on what’s coming next. It’s still early for whatever’s going to happen in the future, but I can tell you for sure that if you played Halo 5, there are some important implications in Halo Wars 2 that you’ll be able to pick up on. I guess in the sense they did when marketing Halo 5. They said Cortana was dead, as they didn’t want to give the twist away. Studios ‘lie’ when marketing movies/games. An example being when Mark Hamill said he was done with Joker after Arkham City. We know he returned for Arkham Knight and Killing Joke.

I guess that’s true to an extent. I believe they originally had the plot for Halo 5 to go differently, but Microsoft wanted them to bring Cortana back, as to have her presence boost it for Microsoft 10.

There’s 2 big things that make me doubt how integrated the two are going to be.
The story is set in just about the most distant point in the halo universe from Cortana’s take over save for perhaps Path Kethona or the opposite side of the galaxy. I mean, ending up at the Ark is far from being Spirit of Fire’s logical arrival point after leaving a star system slipstream-drive-less. If you want your stories integrated, why choose such a disassociated location? - The lack of prometheans shown. A third faction or major feature like that would be something they push, not hide secretly. At most they’ve dodged the answer at E3 (or was it the flood? I forget). We’re now like…half a year from release? They’re being surprisingly tight-lipped.Also, while he starts with absolutely yes, he later seems to walk it back a bit.

Implications sounds like loose ties. I’m guessing it’ll mostly just be references to the fact the rest of the galaxy is currently falling to space -Yoink!-/sutble angle/crazy person.
It sounds more like the initial product is going to be loosely tied, but they’re leaving the door open for tie ins. Possibly in DLC or in h6 depending how well HW2 is received.
