Seriously though Halo wars 2 will be dead on arrival in the PC community if you do not put it on Steam. Im sure this has been said 100s of times and im sorry but seriously.
I love Halo… I love the community and I love the people who keep this universe going! We already are gonna need windows 10 to play Halo wars 2 on PC why make us use the store that no one really uses? Put it on steam watch the game grow and the love for Halo in the PC community sky rocket.
Please for the love of God consider it. I just wanna play Halo wars 2 with a healthy player base please.
Microsoft has said they’re going to start selling games on Steam, I’m pretty sure they were thinking of this one since Steam is a huge part of the PC market and there’s no way it would be worth the effort to port it if they don’t sell it there.
I wouldn’t hold my breath. Halo Wars 2 is going to be their “killer app” for the Windows Store. They are desperately trying to breathe life into it and they will keep pumping resources into it until it ends up like Zune. Everyone knows Halo Wars 2 will sell better on Steam, but Microsoft is too stubborn for that.
if they really want to push their crappy Windows Store, then they should do it like Ubisoft: were they sell their games at Steam, but still require uplay to launch them, Microsoft could do the exact same thing with the Windowsstore (and to be honest: EA and Blizzard could do the same) I understand that this is a little clunky for the customer, but at least customers get their games on Steam and Microsoft can still push their store. Everyone got what they want. win-win!
Microsoft isn’t exactly the biggest supporter of the PC community. They want them on their side, but the way that MS goes about trying to achieve that isn’t in a way that generally works.
So I see nothing changing here. Expect HW2 to only be on Xbox One and W10 for a long while.

Halo Wars 2 is actually bringing attention to the Windows Store for once. I have friends who are willing to spend money on the crappy service just to play Halo Wars 2, which is really saying something.

There’s a service aspect with the windows store games? I’m completely unaware of how it works.

Bad choice of words. I just meant to refer to the Windows Store in general.
Spartan Assault ended up on Steam and iOS didn’t it?
I don’t think they’ll release it on Steam right away either way. If they do release it, it’ll probably be six months to a year after the Windows launch.
Meh, To most PC gamers steam is just a storefront the social aspect is normally on discord since steam voice is garbage. The most popular RTS game in history and also the current most popular RTS game is not available on steam. (Starcraft)
The spartan games eventually released on steam I am sure Halo wars eventually will. That would be awesome though I could play halo wars on my windows 7 PC

If Windows 10 is necessary, why not keep it in the store? Installing 3rd party applications like Steam, Uplay and so on to play games can also be annoying. I mean, games on XBox also run via MS network. so why not connecting both worlds?! Separating into different networks will never make us play the majority of games with cross-plattform-Support.
And on the other hand you have an OS, which offers you playing your games on the fly without any other Installation.

No, theyd need to update the game to run without DX12, which they would likely not do.
Does anyone remember Microsoft trying to push their Games for Windows Live platform a few years ago with Age of Empires Online? Took them half a year until they also put it on steam and tripled their player number this way. Sadly it was to late to save the game. Looks like this lesson didn’t stick.

Again the question: Why using 3rd party apps like Steam? If Win10 is necessary to play Halo Wars, so why forcing somebody to use something beside it?
On the other hand, the game will be a MS-OS-only-title, so why using Steam, when it is dedicated to XB1 and PC players only?!

I don’t understand. You can still use your steam chat and have it open whilst you play on another game. I don’t see what you would be missing out on. Its annoying, I have the same issue when I play SWTOR or other EA games or Starcraft; but there are work arounds. You don’t lose access to those features. It can be a pain of course; buts its not a deal breaker. Also, most people use Skype for gamechat anyway. I mean I can’t for reasons too ridiculous to explain.
Beyond that I can’t see what you are getting at. Is there some other advantage to Steam apart from it being a bit of a hub system for PC gaming?
