Halo Wars 2 Wants(Over here Creative Assembly)

Go ahead and post anything you think Halo Wars 2 needs added or taken out

  1. No “fog”: really restricted movement and gave a unsettling claustrophobic feeling to players

  2. MORE UNITS: I liked the units in Halo Wars but I didn’t LOVE them. It would be great to get more units and maybe a little “Special” units such as ODST’s or Elephants in Halo Wars

  3. Unit size: (do not confuse it with population amount) I personally felt like the unit size was too big compared to some other objects in halo wars, for example the warthog was nearly as big as the factory it came out of or compared to the map was gigantic

  4. Population Amount: Halo Wars was meant for massive battles and while I loved the original it kinda of felt like I was using pea shooter units instead of real weapons, I’m sure it would please the community if CA would allow players to create even bigger armies than last time

  5. Maps: While I did not have a problem with Halo Wars maps, I feel like things would get even more epic if they made some bigger maps to play on (or like I said dial down the unit scale, either one would be great)

  6. Leaders: I probably should’ve gotten to this earlier but factions were a little lacking in the original, I would play skirmish (I sucked at the campaign) and I had 6 leaders to pick from (3 covenant and 3 UNSC) which felt a little bland, plus I was constantly using the same leaders over and over as there were powerful leaders such as the Captain and then there were leaders like the scientist who had a crappy special unit.

  7. Factions: In Halo Wars the factions were bomb, it was just Covenant and UNSC but it was the first game and it more than sufficed, Halo Wars 2 will probably need quite a few of it lives up to the hype, even if they aren’t playable I would be more than happy to have a few more enemies to fight against instead of a squad of grunts and an elite

  8. Upgrades: While the upgrades did Halo Wars justice, I don’t think it will be enough for Halo Wars 2, all I ask for is customization paths such as choosing a warthog to have an MG or a Gauss would be cool, also upgrading the leaders ( or their units would be very cool)

  9. SPACE BATTLES!!: I’ve heard a lot of rumors and talk about space battles and while this would make the game 5x better, I personally don’t think it’s needed RIGHT NOW, maybe CA could introduce it in some kind of DLC or something like an update

Well guys, these were my thoughts on Halo Wars 2 and its needs, feel free to comment and share your ideas, I’ll try to respond to any comments or questions if y’all have any. Have a nice day👍

I think it would be great if you didn’t have to build in a certain spot like in halo wars. You basically knew where they were there base was

Should’ve added that one, I’ve also been hearing a lot about that, good idea

What do you mean by that? Fog of war? I prefer fog of war to no fog of war, so you keep everyone guessing. Unless you mean weird invisible walls or the map spots you can’t get to without Air units, I have no idea what you mean. The only thing that i would remove would be weird/unclear invisible walls.

Yes my bad, the fog of war. They should at least add an option for On/Off or they could implement a bigger unit vision radius (how far your unit can see) because it felt a little too small for the vision radius in HW.

No fog of war… In an RTS…

CA don’t look here please, thanks.

Oh God. What is this crap?!

No fog of war in an RTS? This isn’t even a realistic request.

This would be somewhat like giving everyone in an FPS unrestricted X-ray vision. Absolute vision in an RTS breaks the game.

Y’know ODSTs are in the game, right? Elephants too. Or have I misunderstood you?
It’s creative assembly, so don’t worry about unit scaling or population. They nail that every time.
No Fog of War in an RTS is a horrible idea. You need it for a lot of attack strategies. Though some units need to have an extended range. Anyone else thinking some sort of tank sniper fire?

Yeah I don’t know if OP has ever played an RTS before Halo Wars but it seems like that. “No fog of war” Ha. Good one.

I’m talking about how ODST dropped in the droppods and how elephants were a special unit, that would be cool to keep that, keep the special unit feature in place

  • A form of customisation - Fair multiplayer - New units - All old units - New leaders - Old leaders - More maps - Better battle animations - Variety of environments - Gameplay balance

> 2533274904245048;12:
> - A form of customisation

This is an RTS, not an FPS. The most the customization would be is colours, and possible skins for units, like in HW1. No point on wasting resources for a meaningless feature.

As long as I can have an ODST army I’ll be fine with anything

My biggest concern with Halo Wars was the Scarab buff. Before the buff, it took 4 MAC rounds (the max you could get) to destroy it. After the buff, it takes 4 MAC rounds and salvos from 3-4 Vultures, and the Vultures go down like flies from a Scarab blast. The pre-buff was fair because it pitted to-tier weaponry against top-tier weaponry; the Scarab could see the MAC rounds laser targeting and move out of the way, but the MAC rounds could be set in a triangle around the Scarab to at least force it to take splash damage if it misses a direct hit. After the buff, it just became a bullet sponge, and god forbid if they only built Engineers and Scarabs…

In Halo Wars 2, if super units are included, actually make them super (in the Vulture’s case), but keep them balanced (in the Scarab’s case).

Additionally, redo the current base building method. As it stands, I can build a base and get 7 building slots and queue them all up, but it slowly trudges along with one building at a time. This makes no sense, especially since the first building starts coming up as soon as it’s queued. If people have enough money to full stock a base as soon as it’s available, let them. It will encourage proper resource management in those that can’t, or it will encourage priorities in those that do so and get crushed by an army they didn’t build up to defend against.

It NEEDS balancing and reason to USE other units.

75% of unsc players build scorpians as their main army, and as player with twice the score as a general, i know my “yoink”

And we need classes of units. Why not have a basic marine squad, followed by a anti armor squad ( two ar’s , two rockets per squad ) and an anti infantry squad ( 3 ar’s , one Battle rifle per squad ). And etc for the rest of the units. We need more variants of basicially everything. Halo has so many variants of everything.

Ex. Elite squad. Stealth elites. Zealots. Elite general. Hm. Maybe evem make an elite general a minor hero.

See? So much, variation everywhere, but not in the first game. Im the 2nd, this is a must, along with balancing so their is a reasons to use these variants.

Starcraft 2 logic, i completely agree. Halo wars felt like it wanted to hold your hand through the entire game which annoyed me; I prefer the game style of free base building anywhere on the map which allows for strategy and more time from enemy scouts, plus a harder AI would be nice since hw’s made me want to go half speed in fear of a 3 min battle.

I wouldnt mind better mobility with the units for example :

  1. Jackals being able to get in trees ontop of buildings and on the side of mountains like they were in in halo 3.

  2. Elites being able to get ontop of buildings( their own base, enemy base and destroyed/ abandoned buildings) and take cover.

  3. Brutes being able to take cover and use their strength to their advantage rather then fighting similar to jackals even though they shouldnt.
More option to combat would be nice as opposed to halo wars strength fighting where whoever had the strongest and most diverse army won the game.

  4. Hunters being able to seperate and wait in a cave or in the cracks of rock and dirt then reform to ambush the enemy .

  5. Allowing groups would help to sort out attacks and give more strategy.

My main problem with Halo Wars was how easy it was to win with only a single unit type (I’m looking at you, Scorpions and Grizzlies). A single Spartan-Occupied Grizzly can almost destroy a Scarab on its own. An army of Grizzlies…
