Just thinking here. In the reveal trailer at and the cinematic trailer at RTX we see Red team retreating from Atriox with a wounded Douglas 042. We see that Douglas is missing his helmet and his armour is damaged. I think that if Douglas survives this encounter (I highly doubt that he will die) he will replace his Mark IV armour with the mysterious red armour from the beta menu. I have three reasons on how he will find this armour.
- The Spirit of Fire will conveniently have some MJOLNIR armour lying round somewhere. - The Spirit of Fire will run into the Infinity or other UNSC craft and they will have that armour on board since this game is post halo 5. - The armour will be found on some old abandoned UNSC base on the Ark (This isn’t as likely as the first 2 options but it could still happen).

i think your observations are valid, and story wise it would make sense that the ark would be protected or observed by the unsc so no one can use it tech.
