Halo wars 2 The polish it needs.

Halo wars 2 beta is finally here and I’m happy to play the game before release to help the end product sell better. Okay it’s a beta we expect bugs and all the rest of it.
Once everything seems to be good would it be too much trouble to ask for another beta and a response to people’s feedbacks.

Couple notes i’d like to add that really does need to be their for when we get PC beta, yes i’m playing xbox beta atm and I will be getting it on PC because I am usually a PC gamer although I have played all of the halo’s.

The ability icons are not their - when I use my grenades on my marines and I want to use it again i’m just guessing when the ability has came back because I have no icon on my screen to show how long the ability has got left on cooldown.

Some of the buttons are missing e.g. on the menu of the beta and yeah I know it’s a beta but unless educated to think outside of the box and I wouldn’t have pressed X to invite a friend, I’m not asking to be spoon fed but if somethings aren’t highlighted some people may never try.

Vehicles that are meant to be fast seem to be slow e.g. the warthog isn’t meant to go running pace, it’s supposed to be agile.

Can you take the ram ablity off and put actual abilities into the game. vehicles that are bigger than others if they stand still should be able to run over others e.g. a tank should be able to run over infantry, it shouldn’t have to be an ability, it makes no sense, i’ve saw this in C&C red alert 3 and it actually works well and makes sense. Note if you keep the ram ability in, make it so if you’re running into a marine, grunt or whatever the vehicle shouldn’t take damage at all, it makes no sense how a human can damage a car if you run into them.

I like that you went for a different look on the bases but Ive heard a few people mention, not just myself on how the bases look terrible, the covenant/banish do not look like alien technology and the UNSC don’t have the UNCS look.

Unit population feels like it’s way too low, I know the consoles can handle more than that and why on earth are marine squads 2 population? I’m sorry but that doesn’t make any sense why they are and some units that are tiny that are small should be lower population because they don’t take up too much of the screen, etc.

The game needs co-op incented play. I’ve played Command & Conquer red alert 3 and others but the one that stuck out that was really good with co-op was red alert 3. They had transport vehicles you’re friend could put units into which either made the vehicle stronger or passenger seat to move from point A to point B…Can halo wars 2 not have that concept and adapt from it?

The camera does not zoom out far enough, this is an RTS game I don’t want to be what seems to be 3rd person and a little bit further out, I want to be able to have the option of seeing the whole battlefield and zooming in parts I wish to either explore or look at.

There needs to be a button that I can show my friend I want you to go over their like on halo wars 1 where you could mark part of a map and all you’re friends can see and I do have to say I did enjoy the option on halo wars 1 to be able to know where my allies cursor is on the map it helps to indicate if they have saw it what ive saw or not, perhaps an option to show friends cursors or not.

Would it be too much to ask for 4v4, 5v5 and 6v6 games and a 4 player co-op if possible?

Rank - Can the rank actually mean something instead of just a picture to say they did good in specific amount of games e.g. outside the game unlocks so if I wanted my marines to spawn with BR’s instead of assault rifles because the BR is more faster, however downside is it shoots slower but has more accuracy than assault rifles, etc. The rank gives me credits to do that or end of a game I change my score into credits. I want to be able to spend credits and customise things and if i’m in a clan, personalise with my own emblem, etc.

Gamemodes
Firefeight
Domination(I’m enjoying it even though i’d rather play a diff game type this one is still enjoyable and needs to be in final product)
Infection?
Territories
V.I.P
Classic/standard

I like the way you did not everything has an upgrade in halo wars 2, this is good, however can we have a button for some things that are upgradable to allow you to skill tree the upgrade and it says e.g. Warthog can be upgraded to guess, gunner or rocket. Rocket is very good against air, Guess is very good against vehicles but slow fire rate and chaingun is very good against infantry and passenger upgrade allows you to transport troops from 1 side of the battlefield to another.

Things that seem to be missing that were very common to use in halo and could help give you idea to put them into the game.
Mongooses (forget gungoose, sorry but they are stupid)
Spectre
Prowler
Halo 3 style phantoms
Elephant
Mammoth tank
Passenger warthog perhaps class it as a transport vehicle.

Supreme commander had this thing where they had an extra building called “Experimental lab” and it allowed you to produce the big toys. Halo wars 2 could have that with the scarab, phantom(s) 1 drop can spawn and drop off units (Halo 1 style phantom) and the other (Halo 3 style) could be a damage variant, Pelican, Mammoth-tank, elephant etc.

When you go to build something the barracks/raid camp shouldn’t be on the right side of the screen the bottom right, It should be on top left and the field armory should be in the bottom right, it makes sense then because all you’re unit producing buildings go on 1 side and upgrade & supply on the other side.

The units are good and I like you have actually thought about the units gone into it but I do have to say i’d like to see a wider variety, more infantry, vehicles and air. I’m impressed so far. The problem I had with halo wars 1 is that i’d play 2 long matches each different faction and i’d have everything upgraded and built all the units at least once, I want the game to replayable for hours on end. Hence why I’m asking for more factions. The list of the following factions that can be added -

UNCS
Banished
Covenant
Forerunner
Prometheans
Flood
Heretics (halo 2 covenant)
Etc.

Please let it not be a repeat of last time with 2 factions and all a different leader did was allow you to build 3 extra units that had no big potential difference.

In conclusion I’m happy with what i’ve saw so far but yes it does need polishing up a bit to be a great, well thought out, hands down, playable game throughout. Good luck and hope to be hearing from you. ~ Mr Replays.
