So the other day I was bored going through the character profiles of my favorite characters and I came across something very interesting. On Avery Johnson’s page on Halo Nation it mentions a scene in Halo: First Strike where Johnson’s Boren’s syndrome prevents him from being infected by the flood.
Here’s a link to see for yourself: Avery Johnson | Halo Alpha | Fandom
Now, here’s my theory, the Spirit of Fire lands on the Ark and are fighting the Banished so PEW PEW PEW BLAM etc. so at some point in the story they are going to come across the flood and fight them along with fighting the Banished. At some point during the fighting they are going to come across either Sergeant Johnson’s body or he’s actually going to be alive. He is resistant to the flood virus so his body won’t be flood consumed. The Spirit of Fire team is going to take him aboard and analyze him. They will realize that he holds the cure to the flood spore and they’re going to apply it somehow to all humans to fight the flood.
Halo 6 tie-in: Cortana has been corrupted by a gravemind or Mendicant Bias so she is going to try and use the flood on humans that don’t obey her will. So basically it’s just going to be a huge culmination at the end.
I know it’s a long read but let me know what you guys think!
Unfortunatley, Johnson’s Boren’s diesease was made up by oni to cover up the fact that Johnson was a part of the Orion project, which is also know as the spartan I program.

Mostly right besides Johnson actually having borens syndrome. Oni just used it as an excuse for how he survived when in reality it was the extensive augmentation that he had from the S1 program. Note however that he did have a noticible increase in wound recovery time after this incident.

Boren’s Syndrome doesn’t exist. Its acronym is B.S.
In addition to the above, I don’t believe they will find him alive. There are theories that there is a ‘cure’ to the flood and that Cortana’s was mentioning something else on the Ark when she talked about a solution during Halo 3. So, that may come in to play during Halo Wars 2, or at least, Halo Wars 2 might set the stage for this to occur in Halo 6 or 7. Otherwise, while being immune to the flood, I don’t think they’d find a cure in his blood… it’s too much of a ‘writing miracle’ for even 343i to use, and Halo deserves better than that either way to me.
Johnson’s body fell into the chasms of Installation 04B.
He’s gone.
