Halo Wars 2 Space Battles

Wouldn’t it make sense for there to be space battles in some form in Halo Wars 2? There are so many cool space vehicles in Halo. Longswords, Shortswords, Broadswords, Pelicans, Banshees, Seraphs, Spirits, Phantoms, Phantom gunboats like in Reach, cruisers, frigates, carriers, maybe even Covenant super carriers, Guardians and Phaetons too, would all work beautifully together. It’s worked very well in a couple of RTS’s before. There could be some kind of a boarding action with Pelicans and Spirits, too.

I also think we should have space battles now. Since the UNSC have improved the technologies on starships with better weapons, engines, and even energy shields. This should not be a issue in battles. The major reason why people didn’t want space battles was that UNSC ships got stompped on (especially in close quarters combat) with the covenant vessels because they didn’t have energy shields. Now we do. Of course this would have to take place after halo 3 era due to the technology issue. However, I am fine with no shields and battling in pre halo 3 era. I am would love the Human-Forerunner war or of that pre-halo firing era as well.

Space battles are a good idea. Some kind of 3D/depth kind of thing would be good as well so we could go underneath other ships.

Space Battles would be a wonderful addition to the Halo Universe, but I don’t see it happening with Halo Wars 2. Why? I think you will find this logic agreeable: the Spirit of Fire is the only UNSC ship involved. I would love to see the use of Longswords and Pelicans during ground combat, but Space Battles just aren’t feasible.

However, 343i, please take note of this: We have read of the amazing workings of Admiral Cole in the novels, most specifically Halo: Evolutions, and we are indeed craving for space combat. Recall back to the early 2000s with the Star Wars: Empire at War game and expansion. Those were the best space combat RTS I have ever played. If you make a Halo game similar to that, you will win the hearts and minds of the PC and Xbox RTS community. Imagine the wonderful ground combat of Halo Wars combined with the space combat of Star Wars: Empire at War. Imagine a Galactic Conquest system similar to that, but with the Halo Universe. You would be looking at the next golden game of RTS. Oh, and if it wasn’t implied, use modern graphics. Now THAT would make it amazing.

You really could make massive fleets of destroyers, frigates, cruisers, and the like. Add the Era System that was made in modded versions of SWEAW and you’d be able to take the helm of Cole’s fleet and later in the campaign man the bridge of the Infinity with Captain Lasky. And with this same system you can go with Covenant enemies to begin, insurrectionists throughout, Sanghieli allies in the future, and the awing aspect of Forerunner vessels.

I’m going to stop talking and just let that all sink in. Wow.

I eagerly await the next Halo Wars, but, you have to admit, a Halo game like that would be beyond amazing for everyone.

We don’t know that the Spirit is the only ship. It is MIA through 2558, but after that all bets are off.
