Please add the ability to pick colors for multiplayer. It is aesthetically pleasing on the eyes and is more enjoyable. I know numerous additional players want this feature and at the same time some just don’t care. I would love to see my ODSTs in white or orange armor. Just adds a little more personal customization and I feel like it gives each person some more love towards their army and units. I feel like this would be a very simple feature.
I’ve also heard from other players that its annoying to get used to a new color every match. If i’m playing with my buddies we all have our favorite colors that we would be most likely playing every match, especially in Blitz Firefight.
Please add!
What if you multiple people select different colors? Are you suggesting they add an option like “team colors” in HW1 Which shows team based colors for players instead of the default. It would have to be clientside so that only you see your color a certain way. Would be a nice addition, no reason not to add it.
I’m suggesting the system that Command and Conquer has. A list of 10, 12, 15, or however many different colors CA would like to add. People can choose from that list and it will show the color each player picks in the pre-game lobby. Only one player can pick a color, so first come first serve. If someone wanted a color that was already picked they could ask the person in the lobby if they were willing to switch, etc.
And I agree, a very simple add on. This game is coming out almost a decade after the first one, no reason why they can’t have it. Command and Conquer Generals/Zero Hour had it and those games came out close to 15 years ago.

Sounds like a more difficult work around than just making clientside colors. You’d still have people who want to stick to one color universally, and making people select colors pre game would just add to the matchmaking clutter. Though at the same time Clientside colors would make communication difficult when other people are seeing different things. Difficult to say “attack blue” when they see green.
Most definitely. I could see the challenge with Clientside.
I don’t believe it would really add to the matchmaking clutter. The options are pretty much 1: Pick Army 2: Pick Deck (if blitz) 3: Pick Color.
I don’t think it would add any confusion.
Yeah it wouldn’t really add clutter you would just pick leader and then color. It’s really only a 2 step process in standard and 3 in blitz.
You could even have a random color that you set in the options so you don’t have to pick every time.
Very good point with the random color. I agree that would be a perfect fix for people who don’t care.
It is a little annoying being forced a color. At the very least allow each team to pick their colors from the red and Blue variations or more accurately Warm and Cold colors.
Even if to you your guys look green or whatever to enemies you look red by default.
The banished looks too cartoony in the blue colors. They only look good in red. The UNSC should be a dark green IMO.

They could do what rocket league does have a ton of different shades of the team colors so everyone can pick.
Halo wars 1 had mechanic to change it to “Friend or foe colors” I really enjoyed it because I had the choice to choose the color I wanted, so I would love the ability to be able to choose my color. Overall, we should have the choice to choose the color that we desire most.
Different shades would be good. It would be a start.
In my opinion just letting people pick whatever color they want would be the best. People would get used to picking the same colors and their friends would be too, so there wouldn’t be really any confusion.
@Arkhamspartan: I agree, some units look ridiculous in certain colors and look better in others. I watched a video of UNSC in white and it looks awesome to me, I was like “dam, I wish I could have my army look like that”. Especially the ODSTs with their lasers.

Yeah it would be really cool either way
I noticed when I did a google search of picking colors for the first halo war and second, people were talking about adding a color option. Seems to be something people have wanted for years now.
No brainer let us pick colors.
I agree, simple addition!!!
This would be nice, a nice touch that I enjoyed in Command and Conquer (a game you should definitely be looking at when making a game like Halo Wars 2) Ah man C&C was so good. I remember having 2 playstations, a link cable and 2 tvs setup in my little bedroom so me and my friends could play multiplayer. We’d purposely set a 15 minute no attack timer so we could setup bases etc haha those were the days…
Man, being able to select your colour in multiplayer has been a basic feature in RTS games for 20 years now, it’s ridiculous that Halo Wars 2 doesn’t have this. The same goes for being able to queue up multiple orders by holding shift. Halo Wars 2 feels so basic and lacking due to not having these small things that are included in every RTS game.
To be quite honest, it’s the oversight of these small and simple details that are making me less excited for the game. I’m curious about the story, sure, but if 343i and Creative Assembly can’t even create a half decent PC port of the game, then what’s the point?
