I just wanted to say, if maybe anyone from Microsoft checks these forums for ideas, and if they are making a Halo Wars 2 like it is being rumored, it would be VERY wise for them to release on PC. I believe this is why Halo Wars never was quite as amazing as we wished. RTS games and consoles don’t seem to mix amazingly, and all we have to do is look at the sales to confirm this. Halo Wars sold 2.5 million copies (Source this site Halo | Video Game Sales Wiki | Fandom) Compared to a PC RTS, Starcraft 2, which sold 3 million copies WITHIN THE FIRST MONTH. I think this is proof enough that RTS games have a better time on PC, considering a PC has better controls for a RTS game compared to a console. Some of you might argue that SC2 has better sales because of it’s strong fanbase, however I personally think Halo has as much of a strong fanbase as Starcraft does, if not greater (Maybe). Now, if we look at the total sales from the site above for Halo 3, it sold almost 12 million copies, which is the best out of every Halo game so far. Now we look at Halo Wars, it sold 2.5 million copies, making it the WORST selling Halo game currently released. I believe if Halo Wars 2 was to be released on PC, it would first be a superior game in general than anything that could be created on XBOX ONE, due to the fact PC RTS games have a much higher range of control options with a keyboard as compared to a controller, and secondly, a PC Halo Wars 2 would have a bigger audience in general, as from the sales numbers above, I think it shows the majority of RTS players would much rather play an RTS on a PC rather than a console. All in all, Halo Wars was a great game, with great gameplay and a very nice storyline, but I feel if it was released on PC, it could have possibly developed into something that would challenge SC2 right now. I’m writing this in hopes that maybe someone who reads this voices my opinion to the devs of Halo Wars 2 (If it is indeed being made) And maybe, just maybe, convinces them to entrust their precious console exclusive to PC, to try and make something amazing, thank you.
I do agree that Halo Wars 2 would be an excellent port to the PC platform, but it maybe a while before 343i makes anything for the PC until they are firmly established on the one.
Also Combat Evolved Anniversary is the lowest sold Halo game, not Halo Wars, which is the highest selling RTS on the xbox 360 platform.
I highly agree with what you are saying and I have started something to garner more attention I made a petition which sends an email to microft every single time someone signs.
