Halo Wars 2 not connecting to revalidation server

This morning (08:00 european time) when I wanted to play for the first time Halo Wars 2 (I have the ultimate edition) the game said it could not establisch a connection to the revalidation servers, please check your internet connection and restart the game. I checked my internet connection and it is online. Anyone else having this issue? Does anyone have a solution? Thanks in advance!!

If someone else has this problem, I found the solution myself (after great help from a microsoft employee in a chat).
The first thing you can do is: Hit the windows button on your keybord (normally the second button left of the space bar) + R. Then type WSRESET and hit enter. Restart your pc then.
If that doesn’t work you can hit the windows button + X. Then hit the command prompt (administrator) and type then ipconfig/flushdns. Restart your pc then.
Don’t thank me, thank microsoft for being helpfull in chat!!!
Have a great gaming time!!

not working for me :frowning:

For me to )=

nope not working for me eaither
im glad im not the only one with this issue
if anyone els finds a fix let us know

For me to, i ask myself why i have bought this game.

I’m having the same problem.
When I try to launch the game, its window closes after a few seconds and I’m being redirected to a cheaply made webpage on my browser which says:
“DEAR ‘HALO WARS 2’ PLAYER
The game was unable to launch because it could not establish a connection to the revalidation servers.
Please enable your internet connection and then restart the game to play. © 2016 Microsoft”
I couldn’t find a solution to this problem. The bugfixes mentioned above didn’t work for me either. Hopefully anyone else can post a fix to this problem. What a pity.

I’m checking to see if the team has any information on this particular issue, this isn’t one I’ve seen. (and strange a work-around worked for one of you and not the others)

Have you tried logging out of the Windows Store and back in again?

Hello ske7ch,

I’m glad to see that you are focusing some of your attention on this particular issue so I wanted to share some more information with you. Hopefully it will help you and the team.

  • I am running the game on a Windows 10 PC. - My PC specs: i5 6500 3,2 Ghz, Geforce GTX 1060 6GB, 8GB RAM - I installed the game via the four physical disks which are shipped with the Halo Wars 2 Ultimate Edition. - My internet connection is perfectly fine. I can stream HD videos on YouTube, download games from steam and play other online games. - I am using the internet in Central Europe. How I open the game and how the launching issue appears, explained in simple steps:
  • I hit the windows button - I hit the Halo Wars 2 Icon in my programs list - The Halo Wars 2 window opens, showing a big Halo logo on a black background - After roughly 5 seconds this exact window closes - Immediately after the described window closes a new tab is being opened on my browser showing this webpage:
    file:///C:/Users/Admin/Downloads/Microsoft.HoganThreshold_8wekyb3d8bbwe!xgame.App/index2%20(22).html
If the link isn’t working, on the webpage it says beneath a big Halo Wars 2 wallpaper: DEAR ‘HALO WARS 2’ PLAYER
The game was unable to launch because it could not establish a connection to the revalidation servers.
Please enable your internet connection and then restart the game to play.

That’s about it. Feel free to contact me for more information on this issue. Hopefully we can play soon.

I’m told that there is a port blocked that the game needs to access. Checking for more info/details to pass along but that’s apparently what’s going on.

Update: I think it may be port 443. Check your network config and try to unblock that port please.

I’m still not getting any results. I’ve been trying all day man. This is getting a bit annoying.

I checked it with Port 443 UDP, but still the same issue.
Internet is working fine.

The last 3 games i bought from 343 Industries had connection problems. In my opinion they need new network programmers at the studio. (Halo MCC/ Halo 5/ HW2 PC).

I think it is time to admit that i should not buy any more games from 343 Industries.

I didn’t have a single connection issue on halo 5, and creative assembly games tend to have bad launches with lots of bugs and bad connection. This situation isn’t even server related and not many people are having this issue. Just us
