Halo Wars was really good, and I will write down a few things that are in my opinion the best:
Highest rank took a long time - Each Charakter played really different - Campaign was great solo and coop - Great leaderboards - Mostly skill based achievements - Great story telling and expanding the Halo universe - Great Units and upgrades - Each map played totally different - Easy to learn hard to masterHalo Wars 2 needs a few new things and some things should be improved
No unbalanced unites like a 13 Star Tank - A Prestige mode or even higher ranks for more reasons to play - Objective Gametypes like KotH or VIP - Bigger maps and MORE MAPS - Special points on maps like a forest that only infantry can cross or hide in - Forge mode for custome games with AI in it - Quick communication like “need help” or “attack there” - Ranked and social playlist - Victory bonus and early quit penalty - Challenges to get more xp and variety - A third game mode like survival or hunter. Survive endless waves of enemies. Hunt and kill all enemies in a certain area - Vote map system…to avoid bad maps - First see the map and then choose your leader - “Super Units” like the Grizzly should always be better than the normal ones. - Fix glitches like the unlimited cannister shell glitch - No more Gremlin unit
These are a few of my thoughts about Halo Wars 2 and the 8 year old Halo wars
pls let me know what you think about my thoughts and what you want to see in Halo wars 2
I hope CA reads some of our ideas and we will see them in HW2
Yes, Vehicle-mounted Spartans provided too much boost to their veterancy in the later stages. I think veterancy is fine, but not in the capacity that we saw with the Spartans in vehicles in the 1st game.2**. A Prestige mode or even higher ranks for more reasons to play**
I’d rather no “prestige mod” but rather just more ranks, or more experience required to reach them. That being said, the original started high but then had its rank requirements lowered because of community complaining.3. Objective Gametypes like KotH or VIP
Sounds fine.4. Bigger maps and MORE MAPS
Good Good.5. Special points on maps like a forest that only infantry can cross or hide in
Mmmm… not sure how I feel about that. Could create a balance issue, or could create interesting gameplay dynamics. I’m open to it, but wary.6.Forge mode for custome games with AI in it
No problem with this, but I (personally) don’t care either way.7.Quick communication like “need help” or "attack there"
As long as it doesn’t become a bogged down menu option. Needs to remain quick and fluidly accessible.8. Ranked and social playlist
Ranked vs. social could end up splitting the playlist population too much a short while after release. Better to keep it smaller and less fragmented in my opinion.9.Victory bonus and early quit penalty
Yes.10**. Challenges to get more xp and variety**
Yes.11. A third game mode like survival or hunter. Survive endless waves of enemies. Hunt and kill all enemies in a certain area
Sounds fine.12**. Vote map system…to avoid bad maps**
Yeeesss.13. First see the map and then choose your leader
Yes, there needs to be a pre-game lobby.14. “Super Units” like the Grizzly should always be better than the normal ones.
I suppose, but I’d rather see a different approach to the units and techs this time around. Less reliance on super units and more on countering and the need for scouting your opponents.15. Fix glitches like the unlimited cannister shell glitch
Fix glitches…Well duh.16. No more Gremlin unit
Why? I’d be fine if it disappeared, but I have no hate for it. It is, or at least was an underrated unit for months after release until it was discovered that it was in fact overpowered and subsequently nerfed. Now it’s a better balanced unit.

Well of course we all want to play it asap…BUT
can you remember the horrible mcc launch, we should give CA all the time they need to make a good console rts
I like all the suggestions you’ve made so far. Something I would like to see in the sequel is a little customization. Maybe all your units could have a symbol you create on them somewhere. In the original there was some pre-order bonus that allowed your units to have a custom skin. I would love to see some of that in their as well. That said, I would absolutely NOT want the skins to be micro transactions.
Custom skins are a good idea The problem is that HW2 will have bigger battles and bigger battles means smaller units and with that no one would see your custom unit
maybe if we get custom scolours for our units
it is a great way to personlalize your units but the implementation has to bedone right

I don’t care one way or the other for skins, but they could work in the same way that they did for the Honor Guard Wraith in Halo one. The skin was easily visible, but obviously 100% aesthetic.
Also, provide an option to toggle individual skins on/off. Skins could be unlocked through achievements/challenges. No DLC (my preference, but not a problem either way).

I don’t see the problem with spartan vehicles, maybe I’m biased because I like them so much, getting above 10 stars is very rare anyway, usually the enemy either resigns or you lose the tank before it can kill that many units. Unless you’re Anders getting maxed out spartans costs 2,800, the price of 6 tanks, and 3 7 star tanks don’t generally beat nine regular tanks
High ranks yes, prestige no.
Definitely.
Yes, it was really dumb to only have 3 3v3 maps, that would obviously be the most popular gametype, and the 3v3 maps don’t even have much in the way of supply lifts, turrets, or other strategic locations other than energy walls and reactors.
Maybe.
Not so sure people would care that much.
I think the current click is okay.
No real reason, just like the rudy said.
Yes.
Not very specific.
Definately.
12+13. One thing I kind of like is that people pick their character without knowing what map they will be playing, and that in regular 2v2 and 3v3 they have no idea what their teammates will be, so they have to decide in general who they play best as, so if they implement this they should try to preserve that uncertainty.
I like the grizzly in concept; a version of the scorpion geared towards anti-infantry, but since you can only produce grizzlies from then on it makes it not worth it. Super units should be better than the original in many respects but also be weaker in other ways, but you should also be able to purchase the original unit as well.
Obviously.
Gremlin could be nerfed a bit, but then again it may be the only way to counter massed upgraded tanks.
Awesome community! i love all your answers thanks… I hope CA picks our best ideas.
When you have any more ideas for HW2 and/or thoughts on any of the posts pls post them down below!
How about all Factions as playable UNSC/Covenant/Flood/Forerunnner
And all should have different weaknesses so it would atleast balance out.
For example Flood units have low health but can spawn faster and have bigger armies
Forerunner types would have high health and would spawn slower cost more resources etc,
Halo 1 was awesome. I’m still a daily player, and I agree with most of the things you posted.
Forge mode for me would be questionable, wouldn’t know what to do with it.
‘Unbalanced units’ There is always a way to counter the rare times this happens I have found but can definitely see the plus in modifying it to an extent.
I prefer picking my leader before know in the map. Makes for a more interesting game plus I have to adapt. Also for me I would prefer to not have to vote for a map. Personally I know a lot of people hated exile and would always resign, where as for me it was my favourite.
Definitely need a penalty for resigning, especislly people that resign constantly.
Definitely more ranks
And like you mentioned fix the few glitches
Aside from that I would like to see a 4v4
Also think that a cloaking building for the covenant would be good, so in your base you could either have a shield or a cloak, and the cloak just hides all your buildings so the enemy can’t see them (but still attack them obviously)
Having a cloaking ability for your buildings removes the scouting function. How am I supposed to attempt to counter your army without first being engaged by it? That’s what scouting is for. So you can see what buildings your enemy has and use that info to speculate on what their strategy is. That is what RTS’s are. Adapting to a dynamic battlefield, not just build one army combo regardless of what your enemy does.
