The Spirit of Fire is orbiting the Arc now?!? How in the hell?
Also, a massive Brute-led Covenant faction appears to be there?
Really curious how this is justified in the EU.

Also, what happened to the flood? There was a flood infection aboard the Spirit of Fire… i guess that’s not a thing anymore? I was hoping 343 would use this to introduce the flood back into the franchise.
In Halo Escalation Library Edition, Brian Reed say that flood in the SoF will be addressed in one of the up coming Anthologies.

Oh yippee… Brian Reed said something about a Halo story that might tie up some loose ends. I’m dying with anticipation. /s
Honestly, they should just make that an excuse for the Flood entering the fray later on in the game, but that sounds like they’re getting rid of it on the side.

Speaking of tying up loose ends, i’m still waiting for Spark/Chakas to reappear with the UNSC Rubicon. ALL THE LOOSE ENDS. ALL THE POSSIBILITIES. AAAAH

Well considering we have two Anthologies coming up with numerus writers why not be excited? I mean just because it’s gotten rid of in a short story don’t mean it’ll be back. The UNSC aren’t running simulation on how to fight the flood for no reason. It’s still out there.
The big question is: How did the Spirit of Fire reach the Ark when it’s 260,000 light-years outside of our galaxy. They couldn’t reach that with a Slipspace drive and they don’t have one at all, so how did they drift to it? I’m guessing they stumbled upon a Forerunner portal of some kind and it pulled them to the Ark. That could be what Serina means when she says something has happened. She could be explaining that the ship just got sucked into some anomaly and now they’re in some unknown, (to them), location.
It would be interesting if the Brutes on the Ark are actually left overs from the Prophet of Truth’s fleet after it was destroyed during the Battle of Installation 00. They could be scavengers left behind who are trying to survive on their own. Just a theory of course. We would have to wonder how they survived the Halo Array, although other species did survive so it’s not impossible they did as well. The Halo was incomplete after all.

Exactly.
I think we are in agreement here, I feel like the mechanism by which SoF arrived at the Ark is a more pressing detail I’d like to have clarified (by the end of Halo Wars 2 game); I just don’t know how it arrives there without finding a Forerunner installation that can open a portal directly to the Ark.
The origin of the Brute faction on the Ark, conversely, could have many different possible explanations.

Also includes Sangheili (Storm Armor) which could be interesting.

We know hardly anything about the story so far, they’re likely to appear.

That was mostly a dig into Reed himself. The anthology series has me hyped. His having a part in it, does not.
Is halo wars 2 before CE?

Halo Wars 2 is set shortly after Halo 5
But i saw an ODST with the old armour jump out of the pod.

What time in the halo cannon would help also. Have they been frozen for 30 years? A separate Brute fraction that has elites. Hmm could either be a prequel to the Halo series of we could see the Spirit and its Crew return to turn the tides in Halo 6. Remember Serena was Cortana’s competition at a lot of levels. This could effectively be leading up to Halo 6. Prediction: 343 brings Serena into play as Halsey remembers her adversary and reaches out to her for help. Bringing back the spirit of fire and all of its crew (except Forge of course) including the missing Spartan 2’s and they join with The Chief and his forces for an all out blitzkrieg against the created faction.
If the Spirit of Fire arrives at The Ark via a Forerunner portal to The Ark, wouldn’t that take away from the story of the Covenant attacking Earth in Halo 3 for the portal at Voi? Why would the Covenant risk everything to get to the portal on Earth when they could have just located another unopposed portal to The Ark somewhere else? And what about the whole Hunters in the Dark story? They were also on The Ark, Humans, Sangheli, and Prometheans. Will this come up in the Halo Wars 2 story?

THIS! THIS -Yoink- RIGHT HERE!! It already annoyed me enough that MC managed to “float” back from the Ark to civilised space but at least he has a failing portal to Voi that could have catapulted him to Requiem. The Ark is still the diameter of the entire milky way away from the edge of the galactic rim. (Note: its 2^18 from the galactic core not edge)

That is just because Blur created this cutscene and Blur decided to use the already existing H2A models, rather than creating slightly different new ones (as they already did with the H2A prologue and epilogue with Locke and Arbiter)
And BTW the Forerunner portal was also my theory. It’d either have to take pretty long for them to get to the other side of the portal, or the AI was able to “duplicate” itself over and over again or smth like that.
Otherwise she wouldn’t be able to wake them up …

But where is master chief and all the other people?
