Halo Wars 2 is Underrated

Listen, I know many of you will think this post is pointless, but I just got this game for Christmas and I can’t put it down. Halo Wars 2 is awesome, and feels like old school Halo. Halo 5 is cool and all, but it’s missing that tradition Halo feel. Halo Wars 2 definitely delivers. 343 got this one right. It’s a shame more people don’t play it. I’m just saying it now… it’s worth the buy.

well, that’s all I wanted to say

Much agreed, I got it at release and haven’t put it down yet;

Great game. Unique with the leaders and leader powers. Sadly OP leaders to sell them as expansions kinda ruined the population. But this game will be viable for years on Xbox. Once the balance is set.
i enjoy playing this game.

HW2 is better than most Halo games in my opinion. I still prefer Halo 2 and Halo 3 ODST, but it’s great if they can beat out every other game. It is underrated because most people don’t play RTS’s, they should give it a try. I bought HW2 and HWDE expecting to not enjoy them but they are a blast, especially the sequel!

I just grabbed it on sale and I’m loving it as well. I’m about 3/4 through the campaign. It’s a shame it wasn’t more polished at release and didn’t catch on. I feel like the fist HW was much better received.

Oh well. Still a great time!

The DLC for it ain’t half bad either, and all the leaders are fun and affordable.

I don´t think it is underrated because you didn’t know about this game before.

This is a outstanding game. A master piece in my opinion. If we get the balance done, probably my best game ever.

The story was very out of touch with reality.
But the gameplay is awesome and unique I love playing it

BEST post op. I got the ultimate edition during beta. Great game and community.

Same finally took a long 4 year break from Killer Instinct.

Relevant

A solid game but a lot of lost potential.

I hated every mission but the last in the launch campain. It added intensity and a final stand while the rest of the game’s story just fell short and felt like “another” mission. AtN was the best campaign that matched and surpassed even the first Halo Wars itself. The story was a masterpiece. It felt like more than a mission, more purposeful than END launch for HW2 and exciting dramatic feeling of the first with great characters. We even can perceive the very enemy and can understand how they think and to be honest, Atriox seems quite honorable unlike the launch campaign, while knowing he is more intimidating and feared than the Humans ever could see. I hope HW3 is much like AtN and would be unmatched story to any other RTS.

Yeah ATN was great gameplay wise

Haven’t stopped playing this game since release, and plan on playing it for as long as I played the first Halo Wars. It’s definitely not appreciated as much as it should.

Yeah I absolutely love the game. Preordered the ultimate edition played it everyday up until around August(?) When forge was rampant, then picked up again in September when the expansion dropped and only stopped playing it in November due to other games releasing and support for the game dropping drastically.

The content and support were great, and it’s still my GOTY, but I do wish we got more maps and support post ATN. I’d gladly pay for more content, hell, I’d even buy map packs instead of them being free just to keep the game going.

Sadly for me this will become like HW1 were I only play it now and again (sometimes a month straight) instead of aiming for the champion rank.

Amazing game, just was hoping for more.

In the end though I got much more than my money’s worth. Almost 15 days playtime and my most played game this year.

Could be that the story is underwhelming and the lack of maps and balance

Not the best but it’s definitely underrated. People take this for another 343 mess, and that may be true even to people who have played the original Halo Wars, but not all of the hate is deserved.
Campaign hate is one for anything to do with the ending and falling action, but the set up was amazing.
And if campaign wasn’t what I was looking for, endless, replayable, intensely difficult multiplayer defeats, defeats, defeats and finally a win in one of the most simple, yet most complicated and diverse gamemodes; Deathmatch! Haha!

This game is beautiful.
It deserves a good amount of its criticism, but the game at core design is charming, creative, and fun, and DLC only bolstered that statement.
I count Halo Wars 2 an underrated success in my book.

feel free to disagree.

I agree with all of you, but i can also understand the haters very well.
Just think about it. The -Yoink- with Pay to win Blitz which softened with the time, the -Yoink- they pulled with ATN where they changed the description afterwards so you dont get it in the Season Pass. Then the other -Yoink- where you get 2 damm Op leader with ATN, which even now arent balanced, which isnt pay to win but very unfair. Serveral Bugs like colony (1 month), dissapearing Phoenix logs (not solved), installing the Game new after EVERY GOD DAMM PATCH!!! (After 6 month solved)And so on.
And in my Personal opinion, that the Game feels empty compared to HW 1 with it unfinished Campaign. You may got more leader in Hw2 but thats it. Less Upgrades , less diversity and u can be happy if u got 1-2 new units per leader. Lets not even talk about this lame maps which feel all the same …

This game is truly amazing, only little nit pic i have is the same everyone has, balance. But I have all the leaders and if you are going to put in 100+ hours into this game then they are all worth the buy, even if your like me and usually only play 1 leader, having them all is good for looking at there powers and learning how they play to then counter them. the more you know.
