Been trying to improve for a long time and test out different strategies- but at the end of the day, I’m just punished unless I always prepare to rush.
Constantly getting brigaded by Hellbringers + infantry at the beginning of each game is not fun. Dealing with Air spam consisting of hornets or banshees is not fun- and I don’t want to hear the same old tried excuse, “air spam isn’t that great”, because if it wasn’t then it wouldn’t be encountered 9/10 times.
Overall, people can argue how ‘legitimate’ strategies are all they want- but at the end of the day, having to conform to one strat or dealing with nothing but rush tactics is killing any fun I try to have in this game.
You have 39 games played. You might want to get more under your belt before you proclaim something is broken.
Flamers are the weakest building killer, and Banshees are not good units. Hornets are decent with the tech 3 Wingman upgrade.

And I had far more games of Halo Wars in the original. What’s your point?
I’m aware of the ideal rock-paper-scissors concept between infantry, vehicles, and aircraft, but it simply doesn’t work the same in this game. Anti-Air in the form of Infantry doesn’t work nearly as well as one might think because they have no mobility, and the Wolverines can take down air- but only in a 1:1 ratio of numbers, and then you’ve got an army of Wolverines that can’t protect themselves from anything other than air.
Air is broken. I really don’t care if you believe otherwise.

Yes, and I’ve played a lot of Banjo Kazooie as well, but that has nothing to do with Halo Wars 2. Wars 1 and Wars 2 are very different games.
Wolverines do not trade 1:1 with air and I have no clue as to how you got that idea. Anyone with eyes can see that’s not accurate.
As someone in the top 1% of players, I don’t struggle with air. In fact, the high level consensus is that it’s overall quite weak. But of course I know the mindsets of lower level players and know I can’t convince you. But I’d rather not have someone see this thread and actually believe you. The game is far from balanced, but air is not even nearly a problem.
I’ve just started playing Halo wars 2, but I wouldn’t say that it’s broken. I’ve had a few games were I got Air rushed, but I only lost because I wasnt prepared for it. But since then, I haven’t had a single issue with it. If I see that someone’s trying build all air, I just build Wolverines, 1 or 2 nightingales and masterdom with engineers and cyclops, snipers and a few hellbringers. (A mastodon with hellbringers looks awesome!)
Apart of stratergy games is to recognise a players style and stratergy and counter it effectively.
Games like Halo Wars 2 can be pretty brutal to get better at, but it comes with time and practice.
