Halo Wars 2: How to play with one hand?

Hi all!

I was in an accident recently and lost the use of my right, dominant hand. (It should heal eventually) My left hand is intact but is my weaker hand. Due to the accident it is also cramped, sore, and a bit shaky for a while. I was really looking forward to playing some Wars 2 over the holidays.

This may be a long shot, but does anyone have advice on how to play HW2 with one hand, more or less? I am lucky enough to have an ambidextrous Logitech G300 gaming mouse with 6 programmable keys, if that helps. Any advice on which game modes to play would be great (I’ll play any mode)

I’ll try my best at helping, though I’m new to the forums,
I checked the configs in-game and it’s actually pretty easy to just use a mouse to play.

For starters I recommend setting your scroll speed up to high (the one where if you move your mouse cursor to the top it will move the camera to the top, and such.)
It may take some time getting used to it but it can save alot of time, I also recommend playing with any configs you see fit, but only use the configs that absolutely matter in the game, like selecting all or local units and such.

I’m sure you already know how to config your controls (just go into options) so the best advice I can give is just test out a few configs with your mouse then go into a campaign mission and see how you do.

I hope this helps a bit! sorry if my instructions are a little unclear.

Thanks, that helps a lot! I hadn’t thought about setting the scroll speed.
I probably should have said this in my original question, but I was hoping to learn if the necessary functions of the game could be minimized to a multibutton mouse. Sounds like they can from your post.

Yes, they indeed can be and are pretty easy to memorize

Xbox has controllers that you can use with one hand though I do not know if they will connect to a PC.

Something else possibly worth considering is the Xbox Adaptive Controller. You can grab accessories or roll your own to find something that fits for you. Looks like mouse only might be a good solution for Halo Wars at the moment, this might be useful for any future games you’re looking to play
