So I’m really excited about HW2 however, have they said anywhere why the Ark is still around? and how the spirit of fire even gets there? Also why is there spare parts of the newer armor laying around for Red team?
Last we heard about the Ark that I know of is still H3 when Chief, Cortana and Arbiter escaped and the halo ring fired. The ring being fired was suppose to destroy the Ark AND that installation. Yet, not only is the ark fine one of the trailers shows a halo ring. We saw that ring blowing up (more accurately drove across it as it was blowing up around us). It definitely makes for a cool location but I’m really hoping there’s at least a mention and explanation for this.
Also…the Ark was supposed to be outside the galaxy whereas the Spirit was last seen at the Shield world how and why did they end up there? seems like a really big coincidence.
Lastly, I saw them talk about how Red team can be upgraded and scavage for spare parts of the newer version of their armor. Cheif was the only spartan that went there and took the forward unto dawn when he left… so are they saying chief carried around a bunch of extra pieces of the really expensive suit in a pelican or something that SOMEHOW didnt get destroyed when everything else was blowing up?

Read the book Hunters in the dark. Everything will then make sense. A team of elites and humans head down there and fight tons of prometheans. BTW the ark did not get destroyed in halo 3, just heavily damaged.

I think that the reason why the Spirit got there will be explained in the game because there is nothing else lore wise that does. As for the armor, It could could have been taken from the Henry Lamb research outpost from Hunters in the dark. In fact the outpost actually appears in halo wars 2. The Spirit being at the Ark is resolved during Halo Wars 2.

the Ark is YUUUGE, it wasn’t completely destroyed. I believe forerunner installations repair themselves too, via those tiny constructors you would see in some Halo 2 levels.

The size difference is rather dramatic, and given that the ring exploded above the ark and not on it, its really only the impact of the halo shards it’d have to worry about.

Yes, I know that but based off the explosion they showed behind chief and them saying the ark was destroyed…It was highly possible that it wasn’t able to make another. My question was has it been filled in or is it being bent to fit for HW2. The answer was yes it was filled in a book.
Tiny bit surprised that massive explosion and shards from the halo ring didn’t totally dismantle it when we’ve seen what a ship explosion did to the first halo ring but the ark was bigger and they have addressed it so I’m all good. Thank you.

Wasn’t an explosion. It was a halo ring pulse. The damage is from Debris from the halo Ring. In Halo 3 they describe it as a tactical pulse. It was filled in in Halo 3, and confirmed in a Hunters in the Dark. You obviously underestimate the size of the ark. Halo Rings fit in the hole in the center, and as you can see the Ark is much larger than that.
I know…They fired a tactical pulse yes but the ring was exploding so no it wasnt filled in in H3. I realize the size of the ark I’m not saying every part of it was going to be gone but the debris crashing down into the center where they made the rings and the results explosions could have very easily either A made it where they couldnt make more halo rings or B shockwaves caused it to break apart like the halo ring did in h1. (yes the ark is much bigger but if a carrier can cause a halo to break apart a halo could do the same to the ark.).
Regardless they answered it in hunters and that answers my question so we are all good here.
