I’ve stuck with it from the beginning.
I’ve defended it from the start
From Preseason all the way to the trash it is today.
The game still hardlocks. The balance is still -Yoink-. The season pass fiasco was absurd. I even stuck around after waiting 2 MONTHS just to be able to launch the game, but 343i/CA have effectively sucked all enjoyment I have had from this game, and it’s a damn shame too because I absolutely loved this game when it launched, but each meta is progressively worse than the one before it, and now, we have stupid -Yoink- like Voridus and Serina locking the map down with little effort, Jerome’s mantis kiting early game armies, Goliaths tearing through flame throwers and Fire turrets like they’re paper, Condors that turtle cliffs and snipe AA - the game went from feeling like a solid strategy game with well defined soft and hard counter mechanics to a game of who understands the exploits of a broken leader better.
Every week there seems to be some new way the game is broken, and every week new stupid exploits are discovered and suppressed. I was Onyx 1850ish when the game broke for me, and I’ve been trying to claw my way back even though my competition has had a two month advantage on me. Even if I could, the game has just had one-too-many -Yoink- ups for me.

Not to mention the way things have been handled with the season pass fiasco and the ATN bug.
For 16 years I’ve been a Halo fan, but the way this game, Halo 5, and MCC were handled … it makes me wonder if I should just stick to reading the books and Youtubing the games, because they’re starting to become more tedious than they’re worth
To those who stick with it, good luck. I really thought I could stick with it through this, but it has been one thing after another since Jerome launched back in June. I’ve had a few good days at the start of each meta before some horribly broken strat is discovered and spreads across the internet (Eat -Yoink- BtC) and the vast majority of players who are not champions get to play a game of “who can exploit a developer oversight the best”.
I’ve cleared this game off my HDD, and even though it saddens me to be giving up on one of my all time favorite strategy games, a part of me realizes the game I loved hasn’t existed since Jerome launched. On the bright side, I now have enough room to download one of the many games I’ve had backlogged.
