As soon as i open the game the launcher pops up then closes in less than a second.This has been a problem for a lot of people without a fix. I have not been able to play this game for over a year and no matter what I try it can not be fixed. I have reinstalled the app store, cleared the cache of the app store. Reinstalled the game maybe 8 times now since the issue started. Please can i get a fix to this problem.
Here are some questions/debug steps (only try and perform one at a time, as doing multiple at a time won’t help you identify the exact issue if one of them fixes launching the game):
Are you installing it to the default location (should be your C drive)? If so, do you have another drive which you can install the game to, say a D drive? If not, what happens when you install to the C drive?
If that doesn’t work, have you tried unplugging any sound devices (headphones, etc) before launching? Checking this can rule out any issue due to weird sound drivers.
Do you have multiple monitors? Have you tried unplugging them all except for your main monitor?
If you have an NVIDIA card, does the NVIDIA experience program (or whatever the thing that prompts you to download new drivers is called) detect Halo Wars 2 and give you suggested settings or other properties? If so, can you try using what it suggests?
Do you have any programs that try to add in-game overlays (I believe Discord will try to do this)? What happens if you completely exit these programs, are you able to launch?
Do any other games crash on or during their startup sequence?
