After being plagued with this same problem ever since I bought the Awakening the Nightmare DLC almost a year ago I finally got it working again last night. The solution for me was to completely wipe my graphics driver with DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) and reinstall the newest Nvidia drivers. I ran the “clean and restart” option twice (the program recommends doing this in safe mode but I didn’t, I know, shame on me). I had tried all the suggestions mentioned in this thread and others with no luck. I hope this helps someone - from what I saw in the many hours I spent researching this problem previously it seems like a lot of people are affected.
ive already posted this on a seperate topic but i hope bumping this will help me get this fixed faster

Im coming here from Microsoft Tech Support which tried their best to help me with this problem but to no avail. I had exhausted all their troubleshooting options. I have tried reinstalling, updating windows, uninstalling my graphics drivers and reinstalling them using DDU, resetting the window store, using powershell to uninstall the windows store and reinstall it. My last attempt involved me going through the event viewer and pinpointing the root of the problem with which the tech support guy told me that the game was having problems authenticating something and thats why it was crashing. We checked that everything that would allow the game to properly authenticate was working and it was. Lastly we tried starting it up through the Halo app and it didnt work either and thats what lead me here to the forum. I’ve been troubleshooting this for two days now please can someone help me to get this to work
hey Lawleit Ryusaki, I’m having an identical problem and was lead here by MS support doing the exact same troubleshooting processes that you did.

After following someone’s post about Disabling and Enabling the graphics driver in Device Manager, I went into device manager and found “Generic PnP Monitor” was disabled. I enabled it and now HW2 runs!
This is after having updated my AMD Radeon R5 drivers too.
I hope this helps someone.

Hi,
I am having this issue at the moment.
Bought the game from Microsoft Store a couple of weeks ago but never tried it until now, which is a failure because it simply won’t launch.
I’ve read many of the threads concerning this issue and never found a proper answer.
Is there any hope?
Someone’s still here to help me?
Thank you

Bought the game today on PC. Did exactly this and it worked right away.
The launcher doesn’t give any messages, zero immediate feedback, and checking Event Viewer doesn’t really reveal anything either. Seems useless to be honest.
Surprised they haven’t changed it so that you just download the game seeing as this has been an issue for over two years now with no clear details on how to resolve the launcher problem.
My friend has the exact same issue, I’ve tried reinstalling his graphical drivers, updating his windows, resetting the app, reinstalling the game entirely and still nothing. Very sad to see this issue still occurring with no solution.
IF you have the Halo app installed UNINSTALL IT!! That is what is blocking the start up!

A buddy had the problem and that’s what caused it. Thank you!

I had the same problem and asked for help from the support and they never got back to me… So lastnight I went looking for myself and realized when I typed in Halo into the start bar, there was a Halo APP! I uninstalled the app, and tried launching Halo Wars 2 once it was finished downloading (once again) and it worked! If you have downloaded Halo 5 Forge, it downloads a Halo App with it. My Halo Wars 2 is now working as it should have.
