I for one hate it. However their’s time for changsThis isn’t a war it should be called Halo Skirmish the max unit count of 60 may seem the same as the first halo wars but that is a deception. Units cost much more population ,even a grunt squad with fewer grunts costs 2 population in this game rather than 1. If anything this is next gen we should have more unit count than the first halo wars I want all out warfare and the new group idea would be a brilliant way to integrate it.The new "classic halo wars " gametype domination added in control points straight out of company of heroes. Not a bad decision to avoid camping however their should only be 3 control points for a map of that size A,B,C Their’s too many control points for a console rts and the player has too few tickets and loses tickets too fast. Only rarely do games last longer than 20 minutes. I’ve never had time to destroy a main base. The art style I’m not a fan of ,and their’s not enough units. Having two resources is also a bad idea and no tech level eliminates the strategy of taking out reactors.I hate that stupid placement matches and resetting rank each season dynamic 343 sticks with it should be a skill level 1-50 like halo 3 never reset our rank.Classic units such as Cobras ODST’s and elephants are gone I presume because they were “op” instead of making units to counter them 343 scraps the units instead. Some positives, I like the new heroes and leader upgrades tree and I like how the covenant and humans are more balanced. I dislike how their’s no shield generator for covenant however. And that commanders seem to have no unique units .Overall this game isn’t heading in the direction I would like and I wish they would give us the classic halo wars experiance simply improved upon.Instead of trying to change things so drastically this doesn’t mean change us a bad thing but they should stick to what made halo wars such a beloved game in the first place
I had to launch the game, get all the way to the introduction video, only for the app to freeze and crash. This occurred six times.
Im experiencing an issue where at the beginning “Thank You For Your Participation In This Beta” screen I am told to press A to continue. Unfortunately that does nothing as the soundtrack plays in the background. I’ve tried restarting my console and switching to and from different apps but nothing seems to work. I am frozen on this screen. Before this happened I had managed to Play a round and found that the current birds eye view was a little too close to the ground and made me sick and disoriented.

Try pressing start, not A
Also in general, give the game 10 secs or so on each screen to do what it needs to do in the background.
These don’t always work but you should have more success.
I just feel like it’s laggy. You can’t make a supply pad in a quick A + right stick fast anymore. You have a slow enter then press again so it’s just weird to play for me. Also their should be a tutorial for the base swapping and leader powers right away.
Odsts Are in the game, you should have to play all 10 matches before being allowed to criticize the game

As Far as the population limit goes, i’m pretty sure that is on purpose for the Beta. As you had mentioned we can do more but we’re in the testing phase and we don’t need giant epic battles for testing.
The Crashing is a big shame, i personally don’t have big issues with my game (luckily), but the bugs forums are flooded with the problem.
I agree with your opinion on domination. i have posted similar things on the Domination feedback forum, i dont think it’s a bad idea, it could just use some tweaking. remember though they are testing it, let them know what you think and we can make it into a really fun game type, the potential is there!
As far as ranking goes…meh, i don’t care how they do it. the important thing is that i get a quality game. i hated being a high level general and getting super noobs as a game (fun at first but gets boring really fast).
as far as units and special abilities go that too i think will be applied later but just not in the beta because that was a key feature of HW1. we don’t know what is unique to cutter and what isnt because we have nothing to compare it to. it might a totally different skill tree for every leader with a few units too, but we don’t know. this problem i will chalk up to being the Beta too.
for reactors, i agree that the strategy will change which i do feel is a shame but this at least prevents people from ‘down teching’ which i felt was a lame strategy (even though i was guilty of it at times).
All in all i will wait to pass judgement, i think the crashing is why people are hating on it so much. I do not know what 343 have in mind and what they are actually testing with this Beta. i do see your point that major changes might be coming in terms of design and especially strategy but i will not let the Beta scare me off the real deal. they could easily modify things in the next 10 months. Worse case i feel people should wait until the final version is out before deciding whether or not to buy it.
I can’t play more five minutes (my record). The most of time the game freeze at the begining.
There is a sheild gen for covy bases. Its one of the turrets. Duhhh
I know it is a beta but take into considerarion please… That the mode domination its too fast and the tickets drops too fast too… I think they should be a lot mor upgrades for air… i think infantry are a lil op … my main strategy is infantry with air and lvl up my marines by upgrade and veterancy…and when im gonna battle,my air ,the hornets are the one destroyed first… They dont last … i dont like the new odst … Its just one unit wtf… In halo wars was 10 units… and why my warthog and air unit or scorpions…cant capture flags it is a bug or its is like that… And the restoration from the aliens are op too… The unvulnerabilty and restore are just op…
Stil i like the new art and i like the game in general… This is not my main account is Evilsnake18 … Thanks and thank you for making halo wars 2
For me it’s just really boring
Every time I have been trying to play the game, I keep having a message appear saying “the connection to the online services has been lost.” I have restarted both the console and game, updated the game, and even switched wireless networks and still have not been able to play the game. I downloaded the beta the day it went live and I have yet to play the game due to this problem.
I whish the games would be longer, I build up my army, then the game ends. Please make the score higher or something, please. Want to play halo wars for what made it great.
I’m a longtime Halo fan and I enjoyed Halo Wars to it’s fullest extent. Thankfully, it was made during a time where Halo was more about creating a good story and providing a platform for fans to play in fun environments. I’ll try to keep this simple and organized (Like Halo Wars 1 LOL).
Due to the length of my feed back, it will be broken into two parts.
One being beta specific issues.
Two being overall game concerns including possible lore inconsistencies
PART 1: This part will focus on items that I believe would have been changed anyway and were done the way they were for the sake of the beta. With that said, I only offer what should be done to correct it based on my own findings and what I’ve gathered from my fellow feedback posters.
1.) Units and bases do not have an easily distinguishable health bar. There appears to be none for the bases but I can see the ones for most units. I’ve noticed that there is also a second bar but i’m not sure if that would be for experience (which would be a great addition) or if it were for shields. Just a better explanation/difference between the two would suffice. Also, a building percentage would be very appreciated.
2.) Notifications are basically nonexistent. One too many times I’ve lost a few units because I had no idea they were being attacked. In HW1, units would give audio cues when selected AND given tasks. Also, when Cutter speaks, it is very hard to hear him. We need to be able to see what our teammates are looking at and be notified with an actual alert.
3.) In addition to the fact that players need to have distinct color differences to avoid unit mix ups, the overall coloring of the maps and game itself needs to be radically changed. Everything seems more bright, saturated, and cartoony. HW1 had a darker, grittier, color scale that really helped add to the atmosphere of the game and wars themselves. Please visit HW1 and take notes of the color palette.
4.) In the interest of having every unit have a fair shake in battles, every unit should have some sort of an upgrade. Not just a few of them. Also, I personally would hope that the Banished scarab variant will definitely be making an appearance.
5.) Having the shield generator count as a turret space for the Banished is interesting. I personally would like to see how this change carries over into the finished game.
6.) Bases need to have some kind of rebel or faction if they aren’t taken by players. It makes rushing bases a priority since with more bases, you can simply spam marines more quickly which further proves they should not be produced from the base directly.
7.) Going by the map we’ve seen, Richochet, more attention should be brought to the HW1 maps. It was much more interesting and enjoyable to learn choke points and how to control advantageous areas. Seeing that Halo Wars 2 is going for a more of a “Open for big wars” map style is disheartening since that would detract from strategizing.
8.) This is a big one. We see through these lies. It has been said that there will be much bigger battles with way more units but somehow, despite the power of the Xbox One, we have been given less but with inflated numbers. Of course, it IS a beta. But we just want you to know that we know and we’re unhappy about it so please do not try to pass it into the finished product. Of course, it could be argued that units have increased housing space due to increased strength. If you honestly want to stick by that and overcomplicate the simplicity that made HW1 so amazing, then you have to raise the unit cap. Personally, I think it’d be way smarter, neater, and efficient to decrease unit housing space to the original levels and actually put work into finding good housing requirements for the new units. But really, a max army of 26 marines versus a max army of 40 marines? Please, we should be going FORWARD, not BACKWARD.
That concludes part 1. Again, these are issues that could possibly only exist BECAUSE it’s a beta.
Stay tuned for the much more important part 2!
Due to the length of my feed back, it was broken into two parts.
One being beta specific issues.
This is part 2! Part one should be right before this one. If not, scroll up a bit!
PART 2: This part will focus on general concerns for the game in its entirety. (Story, mechanics, etc.) Again, I only offer suggestions to fix these issues based on what I personally believe and what I have found common among fellow Halo Wars enthusiasts.
9.) Marines are infantry units and they belong in the barracks and they certainly shouldn’t be one of the strongest units but I understand that it’s a beta and there are many balances to come. Halo Wars (HW1) had it right to have the base units as a scout and a special unit. With that said, just have a scout unit and leader specific unit available for production directly from the base.
10.) Spartans do not belong in the armory. If there isn’t space for them in the barracks due to the new units, the next possible thing would be the base itself seeing as how in the original game, “special units” were made there anyway. In order to combat the notion of someone getting Spartans too quickly, you could increase their reactor level to two.
11.) Speaking of the reactor level, the addition of the new resource is extremely redundant. I understand that other RTS games have such resource systems but this is HALO Wars,. So please, stop trying to implement systems from other games just because they work there. It doesn’t add to the game. It just takes up time and space and is a VERY UNWELCOMED addition.
12.) Completely redo Cutter’s character to make him actually look and behave like the James Cutter we know and love. He shouldn’t look younger. It’s lazy and very, very disappointing that something so blatant would be overlooked.
13.) I’m very happy that Elites are still in the game but I believe you may have placed them in the wrong faction. Being true to the lure, Elites would NEVER serve under Brutes… It would be nice that if there were still an Elite based faction whether they hail from the Covenant Remnant or Swords of Sanghelios. Either way, they do not belong anywhere in the Banished faction.
14.) While I understand that with the addition of so many new units, some old ones may have had to be cut. But to get rid of something like the cobra for the Kodiak was a bad choice. The reason being is that, for example, there is absolutely no reason the UNSC should have FOUR anti-infantry units (Snipers, flamethrowers, Kodiak, and tanks). Despite this, it would be a shame to have lost some of the units that, if used correctly, could make a difference in a battle like the Gremlin or the Hawk. Also, those are certainly not Cyclops’.
15.) I gladly welcome new units to the game but there is such a thing as too many. The Mongoose would have made a much nicer scout unit as opposed to the new Jackrabbit. The new scout looks cool, but personally, I think nostalgia and appreciation would have trump the short-lived “new” appeal that the Jackrabbit has. Plus, imagine a Mongoose riding around with a marine wielding a SPNKR on the back.
16.) While I understand that it has been a very long time since we last saw the Spirit of Fire and that it’s very possible that, overtime, base design changed. But if you wanted to be true to the lore, AS YOU SHOULD BE, the Spirit of Fire and it’s aesthetics (for bases, units, the ship itself) should NOT have changed unless of course you have a way to explain this. And by “explain”, I don’t mean come up with some lazy explanation like the one for Chief’s armor in Halo 4. “The armor upgrades itself with nanobots overtime” Yea, sure. Either way, the UNSC bases look unorganized, bulky, and cartoonish. So please, visit HW1 and pay attention to the neatness, the organization, and most importantly, the attention to detail on the UNSC bases.
17.) Its honestly hard to critique the Banished Units due to it not being clear what they do exactly. Having a unit like the Shroud was an interesting idea indeed. But the “artillery crab” (I forget the name) is bit much. I understand that this faction is NOT the Covenant so it’s understandable that their units are new and unfamiliar. I just hope that they aren’t too ridiculous and that the units that ARE making a return are done justice by staying true to how they looked/behaved in HW1.
18.) As for the Banished bases, since this IS a new faction, no one can really say what their bases should look like so that’s completely up to your creativity. I only suggest that the buildings do not look as cartoony and disorganized as they currently do. You have a lot of creative freedom on this one since Brute architecture hasn’t been explored in the Halo universe. You have an opportunity to set a future standard for the Brutes, please, don’t squander it.
19.) I understand that in other RTS games, it is possible to upgrade the basis of your units (infantry, vehicles, air, etc.) the new addition is, like the new resource, redundant and only offers players a time consuming option which will hinder matches. Seeing that the “general upgrade” upgrades the base stats of units, it will be a must have for every player in order to have a fair battle. Since everyone will know that they will be at an extreme disadvantage without it, everyone will be sure to get it, in the end, making the upgrade moot in the first place. In laymen’s terms: It’s a waste of time and resources.
20.) Having bases start with turrets is an excellent idea. But having all four is a bit too much protection, guaranteeing that decisive wins will not happen since the only way to take down that first base would be late game with upgraded units and numbers. Maybe just having them start with one or two would be a nice compromise.
21.) This is certainly one of the most pressing matters. While the leader power tree seems like an innovative idea, it’s just another recycled one from other RTS games. Having specific leaders have their own specific powers worked wonderfully in HW1. It’s cumbersome and unneeded. It literally pulls you out of the battle and ruins any possible immersion you could be experiencing.
22.) Further on the matter, it is certainly unacceptable that it is possible to have a perk that grants faster “veterancy” OR faster capturing abilities. In HW1, “veterancy” was to be earned by units. It encouraged players to protect and care for their units due to their value. Making this something so easy to obtain cheapens the entire mechanic. Also, the power for the leader powers needs to be reworked completely. Everyone loved the HW1 Commander power wheel and i’m certain that it would be much more accepted than this “new” tree system. Again, this is HALO Wars. We want it to stay that way.
23.) This one isn’t necessarily for the beta but more for the story. While we don’t know what’s in store for the HW2 campaign, I’m sure EVERYONE can agree that we want a story with CONTINTUTIY. Please make sure that the story fits with the lore of the Halo universe. It’s terribly annoying when you guys ignore your own canon.
Final thoughts: Based on everything mentioned here, id’ say the best course of action is to play HW1 and take note of the simplicity, the attention to detail, the sounds, the wildlife, the feel of Halo, the dreary realism of a cast of characters fighting to give humanity a chance. Please, 343i, despite all of your mistakes, you still have fans that praise you. Do the right thing and listen to us. We know what kind of game we want.
Thank you!

I want to add my own gripes specifically with the domination Game mode. Put simply, domination is not a balanced game mode, period. You can win it outright before even building an ‘army’. (Army is in the inverted comas because the max size of an army in Halo wars 2 is actually smaller than Halo wars 1… how did that happen? That absolutely has to change). All you have to do is send all of your marines straight to the domination points at the match’s start, and before you know it, you’re already halfway to victory, and by the time the opponent starts capturing domination points, it’s too little, too late, because by then, you could add in units to defend them. Maybe it was meant to be played in this manner, but quite frankly, it makes for a poor game mode, with little room for strategy. This is a strategy game after all. Does a game mode which amounts to nothing more than the first team to do the most obvious thing in the world wins strike you as a tactical gametype? Didn’t think so.
One might say that both teams might know about this and send their marines straight to the domination points and then you have battles going on. To that I say this: Both teams start with the same units. Both teams will lose most, if not all of their units at the start of the game, and then they have to build up an army. What does that mean? You have two teams cancelling each other out at the start of every game. That’s just daft. It’s like the rush for the overshield on Halo 5’s empire, but unlike H5, one team will not come out with an advantage. You just have an unnecessary battle which amounted to absolutely nothing, with the result being a proper match of Halo wars has been stalled unnecessarily for 5 minutes. Why?
I’m not one of those guys who won’t try to provide solutions. This is admittedly a difficult problem to solve, due to the game mode already having all of its rules coded for etc. but I think I have one. Have the domination points spawn at scattered (pre-determined, and fair, i.e both teams have a fair chance at getting there) locations throughout the map, one at a time, like warzone bosses in Halo 5. Giving players 30 seconds or more warning time is optional to be honest. I’d say don’t warn them, just spawn them in, because the better prepared player with the more well balanced army will have the advantage at going for the domination point, but there are pros and cons either way, that is really just a creative decision.
Given this mechanic, something of a snowball effect would come into play. One domination point spawns in at, say… 2 minutes, and stays there for the rest of the game, always contestable. Another comes in at 5 minutes and stays for the rest of the game, and so on and so forth until all 5 are on the map. This way, you simply have to spend time building your army and trying to out-think your opponent straight off the bat.
Another thing I want to add is that regarding the timings of the domination point spawns, I will say make them pre-determined, so that the more alert players know exactly when to have their army ready for a capture battle, just like the better Halo FPS arena players are always ready for weapon or power up spawns. If they are randomly spawned in, then in all honesty, that encourages camping at your base with your continually building army, which doesn’t take much thought. Making them come at pre-determined times encourages well-timed map movement to gain control of the locations and also well-timed map movement to try and hold off the enemy’s routes to the control points.
Feel free to critique my personal suggestions on how to fix the domination gametype. Make sure to provide alternative solutions, otherwise your feedback really doesn’t have much merit, and the devs have nothing to fall back on but the current, and very broken gametype.
This is Dino, signing out.

Okay but it’s got some faults.
I like this game and I’m happy to see a continuation but. The games graphics looks to cartoony come on this is xbox not Mobile gaming, the hornet doesn’t even hit targets it misses every single shot, population is too over rated, you can’t mobilize your army in domination it takes too long, the pelican looks like it cannot even pick up a base the old idea is better (with the big airship) Spartans are now leaders, no cobra :(. All that I believed so be looked over again and hopefully fixed thank you the game is still fun and has potential please work on it.
I didn’t gave much problems, only played 1 match with noobs (sucks) except for an issue with the bullets firing from the hornets. They didn’t fire straight, they fired in a different direction away from the target, enemy base didn’t have a health bar. Plus I know I would like some kind of confirmation that I clicked on something. Such as the resources, not just an audio one but a visual one. The hero unit didn’t have a distinguished look so it was hard to find him in a crowd of infantry. I do like what they did with changing from the reactors constant supply of energy to having to harvest it, though inconvenient, I still liked it. Will give more feedback after a couple more games.
nerf infantry plz too much counter bot enough to be countered by
