I did not play this Halo Wars 2 DLC nor did I find any videos or websites that explain its history, which I believe is important for understanding the history of Halo Infinite. Can anybody help me?

I would recommend you playing this DLC as it is very good addition to the HW2 campaign. Along with that you also have Firefight in it which is my favorite game mode.
As for the lore of Halo, I don’t think there is going to be any connection between AtN and Infinite as it is a self contained story with almost no spillover. There was problem with Flood and was taken care of in the same.

the DLC is not direct collegate to the Story but you can Learn more about the End of Halo Wars 2 and you can know the New Enemy coming this year…

I don’t think Awakening the Nightmare will have any major effect on Infinite. But anyway the story is :
The Flood infested Covenant city of High Charity crashed on the Ark and its fusion reactors were destroyed by Chief f in Halo 3. But it wasn’t completely destroyed and the Flood in it were alive. So the sentinels built a containment shield/dome around it and guarded it. So the a part of Banished forces tried to get inside the dome to salvage tech despite Atriox’s warnings and the Flood were again released. During that fight the Flood managed to build a proto gravemind which was nearing its completion of becoming the Gravemind but was destroyed by the banished. In the end it seemed that the Flood outbreak was under the control of the Sentinels and the Banished.
Can’t forget that it wasn’t uncommon for flood to be contained on installations so its likely that whatever ring the fight is on there might be flood which may get released some how
