Halo Visual Guide help

I’ve recently purchased the Halo 4 visual guide, and I must say, it was a bit of a disappointment. It wasn’t as detailed as I would have liked. I’m thinking about getting the original visual guide, but I’m not quite sure if it’s worth it.

My question is: will I actually learn some really new and interesting information, or is it full of details that are generally known already? Some help/advice would be greatly appreciated. A short list of some of the more interesting or lesser known facts also wouldn’t hurt.

Ki d of like the halo 4 one but s bit more on each page.

Can you elaborate what you mean by “a bit more”?

The halo 4’s has a cleaner look.

Thanks, but I wanted to know about the nature of the information. As in, is it mostly information that is generally known already or is their quite a bit of relatively new information?

The purpose of the books was to act as a handy reference for Halo fans old and new. It’s a “visual” guide in the same sense as many of DK’s other offerings like Star Wars, etc., so the primary purpose of each page is pictures, but we squeezed in as many words as we could. It was a balance.

That said, we tried to have a few new things to add to each entry that wasn’t previously known. I tried to get as many new things in as 343 would let me because I also like to have new info on Halo and not just already-known facts.

I’m sorry to hear you were disappointed by the new one. The new one is just Halo 4 info. The first Visual Guide was 204 subjects from 10 years of Halo games prior to Halo 4, so the content is more varied. There are some new bits of info in that one as well.

If you bought those books when they came out, then you would’ve seen some new info, but if you are a regular at sites that catalog Halo data, maybe the info will seem like old news.

I’d recommend them both and not just because I helped out with them. I use them as reference material for myself as well. They’re handy to have around and they’re only the price of 2 fast food meals so it’s not like they’re expensive to obtain.

Thanks for the info. And “disappointed” is the wrong wrong word. I enjoyed the guide, and I still flip through it every now and then. I just expected a little more detailed information, such as MJOLNIR Gen2 specs, champions bundle items, or info from the campaign terminals. But don’t get me wrong, I did love it, and I appreciate the work put into it.

That said, I think I will buy the original visual guide, both for more info on the universe and as a part of my collection.

Do You have Halsey’s Journal? That had lots of info on the Spartan II’s

Unfortunately, I don’t, but I’d love to read it sometime, somehow.

There was a far more detailed section on GEN2 armor than armor from the first game, but I think I know what you mean. The guide was finished in May 2013, so the Champions Bundle was not even something I had heard about when it was announced so the book was long since locked down. Agreed it would have been nice to include. The book was already larger than the first guide so the Terminals were out of scope I presume. When you have 224 pages or so and you start filling in the most major or popular characters, ships, weapons, etc. from the game, you run out of pages before you run out of content. The line has to be drawn somewhere.
