Halo + Vine video's = best file share ever

Remember when file share was huge in halo 3 while waiting in lobbies? I do, I remember pregame I would just like to look at people’s pictures they made, and down load maps and game types. IMO it was advanced for its Era and now gaming has become more social then ever, imagine that halo 3 file share system in Halo 5! But let’s make videos more accessible as well. Let me explain.

Yes we had file share (kinda) in Halo 4 and MCC. But it wasn’t very fluid. It was clunky and took forever to load anything. My hopes for halo 5 is for a fluid natural evolution from the Halo 3 file share which was pretty darn fast! 343 please evolve it to make it faster and easier to access. And give some love to the videos, so you don’t have to download the video and go to theater. Maybe make it similar to Vine (a social media app that allows you to make 6 sec. Videos that loop) and allow it to play right when you click on the video from the players file share.

That’s a fascinating idea, and I can see it being useful for many filetypes besides videos, too. I wonder what it would be like if we could click on a player in the lobby and have the screen scroll over (like Reach’s Active Roster did) to show a sample of their File Share content: visual previews of their maps, a gallery of their screenshots – whatever content the user has decided to feature.

I agree, file share should be given more attention in Halo 5. It helps community content spread around.

Totally agree. Maybe even have more options to connect to social media to share content.

I think halo 3’s fileshare was so great is because Bungie had their own servers that were pretty amazing.

As far as I know Microsoft can be a bit of a miser corporation. 343 does have A LOT of pull as to how much money they can spend, but it still needs to get approval, and anything that sounds like “user controlled content” on “our stuff” probably makes them a bit unhappy. I’ve heard Halo 5 is getting its own servers, so this may be a part of the package. A proper fileshare system with its own dedicated system to make filesharing fast and good again. Or … that dedicated server will break down because it was held together with dental floss and clothes pins.

  1. Hmmm I’ll have to start up reach again to remember how the file share was! I’m sure there are so many ways to enhance file share like you are explaining. The community created games what helped Halo 3 live so long imo!! I could play customs for hours, and now it seems every halo the amount of people playing customs has gotten smaller.

  2. More quality content spreads the stronger the following of the game. Halo NEEDS exellent forge and customs this time around since it’s the real new halo on next gen.

  3. Could you please explain? Are you saying in short that if it’s on dedicated servers it’ll be a hit or miss?? I think it’s the way file share is presented, in halo 4 it seemed like a big mess trying to get into someone’s file share.
