Halo used to be a man's game

Yeah times really were different back then.

You probably will actually see that today. Just saying. Bad example.

a ā€˜mans’ game… yeah, right. the color pink says otherwise
i will say, it did look more griddy with something like Reach with less bright colors. but… heart-attack and GBP was there as armor effects, sooo…

As a general theme you wouldn’t see it. Not litterally. You can make the argument that any event could happen at boot camp. I compare it to a cowboy being in a space. Movie. Obviously the movie it self isn’t a literal interpretation but it draws basic themes from what it’s based on which it is military based. It’s not like there isn’t a military in the game which also happens to be the focus of the game. It’s even told through.the higher ups (master chief ) which you can argue is the most serious position in war time scenario.

Like.i said above picking the color pick is different from flower petals going from the feet if anything I veiw the color itself a color any one can be. It’s specifcally the animations and affects

Halo is a science fiction game, It was never a ā€œMan’s Gameā€ it was a ā€œPlayers Choiceā€ game.

If I wanted a heart of clouds around me in Halo Reach, that was MY CHOICE, if I wanted a Katana on my back or bug eyes in Halo 3, that was MY CHOICE, if I wanted ODST armor or Fotus Helmet in Halo 4 that was MY CHOICE.

The OP of this thread clearly doesn’t understand that Halo isn’t meant to be taken seriously in ANY aspect other than the story of it’s campaign. Multiplayer is meant to be just that, non-canon multiplayer. So far the only canon multiplayers are 4, 5, and Infinite, anything that happened before those games was not canon to the in-game story.

if you’re complaining at flower petals as a armor effect. i’m surprised you’re not complaining about any other armor effects. wow, so manly to have PNG hearts follow you and explode out during death. wow so manly to explode in confetti.
what’s wrong with pink leaves following the player as an armor effect? it’s the same as say inclement weather, or pestilence

I’ve already explained multiple times that those exact things are in not abundance. It’s quite literally a hand full of things that you can count on two hands. My point since the beginning is that it’s currently sitting on the border line if what Fortnite Is with different kind of skins

Actually I hold the classic halos in high regaurd compared to ifinite. If anything Halo should return to what the first 3 halos were like.

Again. I already explained this above. I don’t like any of the armour effects. I think the way Halo reach went about it was enough. Right now I think it’s going to far. Same thing I asked someone else. Would it be ok if there was rideable unicorns in multiplayer? Would it be ok if racing cars just suddenly appeared in the campagin? There is a fine line to where if you add enough items it just won’t be Halo anymore. I’m already seeing samurai stuff. Cat ears. Flaming feet. The skull animation. It’s already a lot. And the game just launched.

Yea, not literally. It was a joke. Though we’re not far off.

I’d rather Halo be like what CE-4 were like. In terms of cosmetics and unlocks anyways. 4 had some really good armors too, my personal favorite is Venator, but Reach really did an amazing job with it’s armory.

OP needs to grow up and learn that a videogame with goofy stuff meant to be goofy is acceptable and expected.

At least it isn’t like Halo 5 Guardians, where 80% of the armory was goofy stuff meant to be taken seriously and we had every right to be upset about it.

I can understand nuance. I get that goofy stuff is apart of Halo. I get that silly things exsist in halo. I’m not asking for the elimination of all things silly.

don’t get me wrong, there is a fine line. i agree with that. but as long as that line isn’t crossed, then i’m fine with it. model changes as you were saying like unicorns and race cars are too much. but texture and color changes to the base model, i’d say is good enough
same goes with armor effects. personaly, i find them cool. a flaming helmet. fire around the character. or bursting into a confetti explosion upon death, like the skull in the campaign.
as long as they’re not… glaring and distracting, like let’s say a cat PNG or something, or say if said distracting effects were at a constant and activally distract the player, as long as the effects don’t do that, i don’t mind.
currently, even if i know there are armor effects on certain players, i never notice them in the combat. i don’t notice the pedals as someone sprints, nor the flames of a grappling hook. perhaps the flaming shoulders, yes, that’s getting to that fine line. but a flaming helmet is also not at all noticable until the kill cam shows it

however i will say, cosmetics have a finer line. armor effects have a bit more leway as they’re just… effects. but cosmetics certainly don’t. as long as they stay in the asthetic of halo. i’m fine with it.
the samuri stuff is fine, i mean, a weeaboo armor set was in H3. along with a flaming helmet for devs
if anything, i’d say the yori armor looks more fitting of halo than the hyaboosa armor. looks less… anime like
the cat ears, okay are pushing it. but as long as they don’t make them… glaring and apparent, it’s just a harmless joke. but if they keep going with the animal kid look… then okay, that’d be pushing it.
if we’re allowing a samuri armor in H3, then we can allow a few small things in infinite

overall, it’s just a matter of preference. so far i don’t mind it too much. but it’s bothering you, and that’s fine. we all have our preferences

What about a fart cloud?

welp, buddy you won the award for dumbest thread I ever read
and I used to frequent the overwatch forums

Volt, this post legitimately dips into cultural ignorance so hard that it gets racist. I don’t know what else to tell you.

But Cherry Blossom Petals? That are PINK? Are a -staple- of Japanese culture.

The flower petal effect is similar to things For Honor does, that’s what they’re probably going for as a model of how to do a game with cosmetic effects like this right. Its all just for fun
