Women have always played Halo. And the people who introduced me to Halo when I was a kid were kids themselves. And that was pre Halo 2. You’re silly if you think the M rating really stopped people.
Not saying it wasn’t, it’s just very clear you have a biased opinion and are willing to use slightly underhanded tactics to assert your point.
As for the cat ears… Flaming skull? Katana? Hyabusa? Any of the new stuff in MCC? Skeleton helmet? Any armor affect from Reach? Just because you don’t like cat ears doesn’t mean they don’t fit… I mean, have you seen real world Tankers, cat ears are surprisingly on point.
Just spend money on skins you like, not rocket science, it’s not like you need to buy every bundle.
You could play for that which is a plus and on top of that is few and far between. My main point Is that we are already into the first months of this game and there is already cat ears and flower petals. It’s rapidly approaching a number that goes beyond other Halo games. I understand little silliness is fine but there has to be a line drawn somewhere. A samari dude there. A reach guy here and another cat ear guy here. All of it just start looking silly in my opinion
Look, I agree as much as everyone else with the store pricing and some of the items in the store being just dumb, I also agree on the color selection issue which I expected to be horrendous the moment coatings were announced;
However this is not one of those things I will complain on… or at least not for the reasons you imply on your title. The armor effect in my opinion looks cool, it ties with Japanese culture and with the Yoroi Core, it does however have horrible pricing being that the effect is the only thing worthwhile on that bundle.
But still, it does not have a SINGLE thing about it not being “manly” enough
But how?
Like the grunt playing with dolls on Legendary Delta Halo? The color pallet you can choose from in general? Grunt Birthday Party? Ninja Armor? I can go on if you’d like.
You can make an argument for turning off effects like this, that’s entirely reasonable. I would love to disable them because it drops my framerate.
However your argument is suggesting it somehow emasculates those who play this title and is probably the dumbest most unreasonable thing I’ve ever seen you post. That might sound mean, but I honestly have no idea how you rationalize that ridiculous thought process when you use a gender neutral Japanese influenced cosmetic as a reason this franchise is no longer “manly”.
I’m not a ‘weeb’ (for lack of a better term) but even I know that cherry blossoms are cultural in nature, not gendered in nature.
My reaction when Halo took Crysis’s approach to armor design in 4 and 5.
But if you don’t like the current state of Halo’s long standing dance with wackiness, you should get on Bungie’s case for setting a precedent for it in the first place. That’s where it started.
It’s a metaphor and no I’m not saying it stopped people but it was a lot less back then. It wasn’t as common. And what I mean by my video is that in the military esspically at that time when Halo was out there was nothing feminine about being in the military. Many people played Halo. Even the adults around me because they would either being the military. maybe Halo is something different now but I see Halo a bit more serious than this. Not serious in the HCS sense. But serious where it has a military aspect to it and jokes second. That’s why I choose the speach as the video because it’s just enough to be funny but it’s also a serious scene because they are about to plunge into battle.
Do you think Bungie’s employees know the real military?
In the design, many practical things are ignored for the sake of visual effect.
This is a science fiction game series.
These are games for everyone.
Just choose what you like from the content.
My problem with that is they opened the door to celebrate any culture or thing asccoatied with it.
This may seem like a good thing but what will end up happening is it will look like Apex. Just complete whole skins thrown over a Spartan shape. This in my opinion is where they will be venturing to far and will no longer considered Halo to me. At least Halo theme stuff first. I expected reach or blue teM to be a focus point on the first one or two seasons but its just stuff that’s never really been in halo before
In single players maybe everything was militaristic, at least as much as Bungie knew. But in multiple the colors were all over the rainbow. “Feminine” colors were definitely included too. And not everyone took the multiplayer seriously. And just because you really only knew adults playing it doesn’t mean a lot of kids weren’t. Halo was one of the most popular franchises for kids when it introduced. It was popular with everyone really.
And as Halo grew each game added in more and more silly and added more feminine options. Maybe you don’t like it, but this isn’t really that much more “silly” than what Reach was doing.
Volt, stop mentioning things that you haven’t the faintest idea about.
I thought your posts couldn’t get worse…congrats.
Profit maximization is the pursuit of commercial companies.
If they can see the potential for profitability, they will continue or change their plans.
I’m taking the basics here. People in the military didn’t play this because it was ultra realistic. It just had that tone and atmosphere. Everything. Tan. Everything green. You know the basic. Military look. With master chief looking somewhat logically as a thing that could happen as a fighting suit. Even tho this happens in alot of games people do make military groups on Halo and role play that way. Idk man. That’s just how I see this game. Bootcamp. Dirt. Green everywhere.
When 343 announced Fractures they explained what they would be and how they would revolve on non canon stuff but still keep some Halo aesthetics, this current offering honestly does nothing to void that statement.
I understand you might not enjoy it, but that’s your opinion; I also worry about the game starting to put a lot of stuff that simply throws the Halo look out of the window, I’d like new cosmetics and Fractures to still retain the look, simply make them like “alternate universe” versions of armors and the like that still feel like power armor that fits the Halo universe.
But honestly we just have to wait to see how future Fractures are handled, but again, this one just doesn’t have any issues at all
I laid my my points with facts and opinions. The opinions are how I feel about the skins. The facts are that this game CAN go in a direction of which I described based on what’s happening now. If you have any indication otherwise then state it or you are are not adding anything to the conversation
And look how they were received, nobody ever got on anyone’s case about using them. Sometimes they made us laugh, or used in pop-culture ways (RvB Donut), but ultimately it was just part of the expression factor.
Let’s wait and see then.
Mostly just opinion.
That’s my point. This stuff has always been here. Maybe not to this level, but Halo wasn’t just a super serious sergeant master shooter person game ever.
As I’ve replied to other people I just see this game inore gritty way. It may be my opinion that these skins are bad but at some point I may be proven right that it will go to far. Far enough to the point where it’s not only me making this post. The title is a metaphor for how things were in yesterdays world. Where such a statement wouldn’t matter. The content would.
Again at some point there will be more non Halo items than Halo. If that doesn’t worry you then that’s ok. But to me it seems like Halo is loosing what it once was. A simple military shooter with a sprinkle of humor here and there. That’s why the ogrinals can never be toped. Nothing compares to Halo 2. It was the perfect balance
