If bungie did with HCE what 343 is doing with H4 HCE would have had health pick ups and no regening, holding a bunch of weapons at once and you’d have to select your grenades before you threw them.
They would have just copied the features from the class leading games because those were the “industry standard” parts of an FPS and “people expected it” and “you had to have that stuff in your game to be successful”.
The problem with just copying your competitor is the fact that you will never be as good as them at being them.
So what did bungie do? They made their own game that did have regening and where you could only hold two weapons and grenades were on a hotkey. HCE succeed because it was different.
Now 343 is just looking at the class leading games and saying those are the “industry standard” parts of an FPS and “people expect it” and “you have to have that stuff in your game to be successful”.
The problem is sprint doesn’t really fit in this game. Nor does instant respawning or having auto turrets and care packages. You cannot beat COD at being COD.
To be #1 you have to be a leader not a follower.
There is nothing wrong with not being #1

This is why kids should not be allowed to play soccer.
Umm…Halo CE DID have health packs and non-regenerating health.

Yes, but it didn’t work at all the way it did in games of that era and it was the secondary layer to the regening shields.
>
What do you mean? Me and others will still play Halo regardless of a position in the gaming industry
Notice how there are many good games out there, yet they aren’t #1 at that. As I’d like Halo 4 to be el numero uno, I wouldn’t mind if it weren’t.

I hope you realize that if 343 was doing what Bungie tried to do with H:CE, they’d be making Halo Wars 2 right now, not Halo 4?
That being said, Halo can’t become a leader by simply doing more of the same. And 343, being the new kid on the block, isn’t exactly in an ideal position to start pioneering the next generation of games; they need to make something that works first.
Aka, Halo 4.
Hopefully.

Every series is a follower at some point.

Why does everything have to be a competition? Can’t it be enough that people enjoy the game and have fun playing it? So what if Call of Duty has more players online? Is the world going to end because of it? Is Halo going to die for being in second? No, it won’t.

This is why I hate elitists who think that winning is everything, it isn’t.
Kids play soccer for the fun of it, I play video games for the fun of it. I play Halo, Forza, Ace Combat, Hawx, Skyrim, Fable, and Call of Duty.
I play video games because I want to and I play those series because I do not feel forced to choose between them.
It doesn’t matter if its #1, as long as I like it and I can enjoy myself, I could care less about others’ opinions.

Well that’s quite selfish of you.

This times one-thousand.
Stop saying 343 is the new company, no it is there first game where they are the only maker have you ever read the back of a Halo game or the credits.

How is that selfish?
Ok guys, why am I getting the feeling that we are arguing with a potential troll?
>
you do know that soccer is the most popular sport in the world right?
a game does not have to be number one for it to be fun to play
> The problem is sprint doesn’t really fit in this game.
look at it this way, at least there not adding somthing so horrible that it absolutly destroys competitive play and map flow, copys every other game, and ruins halo as we know it.
you know, somthing like this

Ugh, not this again. 343i is designing maps to be sprint friendly. And where did you get the idea that auto turrets and care packages was in Halo 4? Your ignorance is blinding you. Calm yourself. Questions will be answered on Monday, at E3.
