Halo: Uprising
This started out as an idea for a game I had about 4 years ago where you play as a Marine that I named Halo UNSC. However, after I thought it over it seemed that it would have just turned out as a less fun version of ODST. So I decided to rework it into this.
The Story
(Note: I am a massive fan of Halo and it’s universe, but my knowledge of the lore is limited. I’m going to keep this as open-ended as possible to avoid conflict; Let me know about any inaccuracies and suggestions are encouraged.)
Set one year after first contact with the Covenant, Uprising is the story of Reaper Team, a secret Special Operations unit headed by ONI. Following the failure of the ORION Project, ONI began assembling a small army of the best Humanity had to offer.
They left behind their past lives and became a new breed of soldier, battle-hardened and outfitted with the latest in experimental technologies. Operating from a vessel that doubles as a command center, the Night Hawk, they act as ONI’s personal hand of death and collect vital information for ONI’s super soldier research.
Reaper went to work to quell the Insurrectionist threat in Earth’s colonies and were making swift progress until a new, lethal cell with unknown technology proved a challenge to defeat. They operate from a planet in the Outer Colonies hijacked from the UNSC.
The story centers on Reaper’s fight to end this new threat at its source before the Covenant completely overrun the planet and destroy them both.
The Idea
You play as Reaper 9, a squad on the Night Hawk. It is made up of four soldiers from different backgrounds and branches of the military.
Maxwell Lawson (41) - Once a Decorated ODST, Lawson was an exceptional leader in the field. His line of work meant that he had little time for his family. He had difficulty adjusting, leading him to alcoholism.
It all fell apart when his home was burglarized and he accidentally murdered his daughter in a drunken state. He was discharged and given a life sentence for Intoxication Manslaughter, his wife divorcing him shortly after.
While serving out his punishment, he was approached by ONI and offered a clean slate in exchange for his services. He accepted, hoping to forget the horrific thing he had done and meet his end in battle.
Jonathan Wright (38) - A sarcastic Brit with a slight temper, Jon is a tech prodigy. From his youth as the son of an AI Technician, he simply understood the way things worked. He took apart several of his father’s gadgets and watched him work on his prized Hog regularly. He went on to graduate with honors from a prestigious university on Earth, and turned his attention to Naval technology.
His hard-edged attitude is broken only by his wife and unborn child, whom he often thinks about, sometimes during battle. His fear for their safety from the Covenant are his driving force as well as his greatest weakness.
Sean Evans (33) - A young hotshot that came up in one of the UEG’s roughest colonies. From a young age, he did whatever he could to make ends meet for his loved ones, and sometimes that meant criminal activity.
He was chosen for Reaper from the Marines due to his proficiency in combat as well as his unorthodox use and understanding of alien plasma weaponry during several battles on Harvest, which caught the eyes of ONI. He’s made it his personal goal to learn the ins and outs of every Covenant weapon and use them to send the alien menace home crying.
He joined Reaper for the significant financial benefits that he could use to support his struggling younger siblings back at the colony.
Eliza Villanueva (31) - Reaper 9’s newest member, Eliza was born on a small agricultural planet in the Outer Colonies. At five years old, her town, adjacent to a UNSC Facility, was raided by Insurrectionists in an attempt to gain a foothold and force them offworld. She watched as her parents and older brother were murdered before her eyes, and she hid in fear until the shooting and screaming stopped.
UNSC forces pushed the Insurrectionists out, and Eliza was found by an officer who took her in and raised her. She followed under his tutelage and rose from the academy to become a top Marine Sniper, efficiently bagging high-value targets on a regular basis.
Chosen for her deft aim and efficiency, she coldly and mercilessly hunts the Insurrectionists bullet by bullet.
