Halo tv show. What would you do?

I like how y’all think crapping on the show will get them to cancel it just so they can reboot it exactly how you want it so then people can complain about that too and get it cancelled again. If the show does good we get more video games shows like maybe mass effect or something. But if it bombs they go “the budget doesn’t justify making video game shows or movies because there is no pleasing these people.”

I would cancel the show, most of the central ideas in this jumbled mess of a plot and story are just bad and clash too much.

Honestly with how they did the Halo show I don’t want them to mess up Mass Effect too.

Given how video game adaptations have been panned since they became a thing with a rare few exceptions, I doubt the halo show is suddenly going to be the breaking point that stops them from happening.

Halo should be a lesson on what a bad adaptation looks like, so that people can strive to do better in the future.

This is not a bad adaption. We are just in season 1 which doesn’t even take place during the video game Timeline. Think about how difficult it has to be to make a lore with three different groups that you all have to please. You have the people who just know the lore through the game, people who know the books and game, and then people who don’t know any of it. I mean if you only know the lore through the game I’m not sure you would even pick up on the whole kidnaped from parents and trained as a kid aspect. I imagine Halo 4 was very confusing to people that never read the books. So the show has to ride this line of telling a compelling story people can follow as if they have never seen any of it before. I mean I don’t think Chief has been in a book since like the third book they released. So you have to have side storylines to flesh out the galaxy. Makee is an interesting plot device to explore the covenant, eventually we’ll get the arbiter but you can’t expect someone who has never seen any of this before to care about the reasoning of the aliens without a human present. It also allows them to speak in English some. They’re almost done with season 2 a lot of shows don’t get there stride till then, and this is the best part, is that the show isn’t canon so it doesn’t effect the game at all. We can just be happy we have Halo on another medium and enjoy it for what it is.

Visually it’s nearly perfect, and like I said before some directors would have just made the aliens painted humanoids like Star Trek and made the side plot about classism between humans painted purple the Elites and the humans painted green the Grunts and the woes of space racism. Instead we get ethics that are relevant to the books and game while still getting our super soldiers fighting to save earth against aliens and heading to an actual Halo ring. Plus they didn’t skimp on some great action sequences, they’ve been epic.

I would absolutely love to see Mass Effect but after seeing Halo fans trying to tear down Halo for some of the most ridiculous reasons I doubt we’ll get it. People will lose there minds over Commander Shepard not looking like the character they designed in the game. The game is very cinematic but you can’t just film the game because it would actually be boring to do so. They have to try and embody the paragon and renegade choices through different means while still trying to stay true to the game. That takes nuance and a forgiving fan base, so yeah that’ll never happen.

That’s your opinion I’m not crapping on it, I don’t like it because it’s not Halo…

It’s Goodbye from me and most of the fan base. I tried to give the series a
chance but the hopium evaporated very quickly.

This tv series is a huge FU to all Halo fans including you and me. (This is my opinion)

343i has been doing the FU to us the fans since Halo 4, and I for one thought
this would change with Infinite and the tv series, but I was completely wrong.

I find it strange that when ever we have A HALO cinematic piece of media its always about a rouge spartan.

Staying true to the thread. If could change one thing it would be having Cortana stay more true to her digital appearance similar to CE and then as she gains more of her humanity you see her more embody the human form.

It takes place during the book timeline. Books usually get rather faithful adaptations.

Thats why you start from the beginning. Its almost like there was this great novel called the Fall of Reach that covered the the human covenant war and is well loved by the fanbase.

So you start at the beginning. Halo 4 suddenly changes a lot of things since halo with with the explanation often being “stuff happened in books”. If you start at the well, start of the franchise, you avoid that.

Bad Blood, Oblivion, Silent Storm, Shadows of Reach. all came out in the last few years.

I’m not going to lie I like the concept of her, but I feel her execution sorely lacking. She doesnt lend much of any insight into the covenant. In instead just

The games already solved by the language barrier by just having the covenant speak english. It honestly robbed the prophets of alot of character by having them speak a bunch of gibberish.

Lastly, I never understood the “there must be a human for people to care about them!” argument. It comes up a lot, but it usually results in an alien faction being deprived of everything that makes them cool.

Makee seems to be dead anyway at the end of season 1, having achieved nothing but making chief commit a warcrime and depriving us of giving us an actual covenant character.

While i agree visually its nice, I feel like you’re making some serious hypothetical scenarios to back up your argument.

I mean, for many people its been waiting over a decade to see halo brought to TV, to share it with people who might not be into playing games, But instead we get a bunch of character assassination and weird tangents. Heck I pretty much spend a good chunk of every episode telling the people I watch it with that this isnt part of the games.

Why should I be happy that one of my favorite brands is slapped on something that doesn’t represent it well?

If i wanted to show them what halo looks like without properly showing them the content, I could just show them my posters.

I have to admit that last episode was pretty bad. I thought we were gonna see humanity’s best hope lay waste to the covenant instead they get their butts handed to them. Then Chief sort of just dies so that Cortana can zombie his body. Then on top of that they make Cortana a better fighter than Chief!? I’m sure Chief will come back alive next year, but jeez.

Now referring to your previous comments. I haven’t read any books in like ten years so I don’t know any recent developments there. I still don’t think you can do a show based of off Fall of Reach, it was an epic book but actors need that screen time and like 3 quarters of the show would have been Chief as a kid or teen. I noticed that the game and show run into the problem of the series being called Halo not Masterchief. Which means the games are always going back to the rings in some way and not having Chief do random battles across the galaxy. This is also why the keystone aspect became more important in season 1 than the spartan training aspect because the audience needed to see the Halo ring without having Chief show up to the ring. Now that the Halo is established as this world and the audience knows Masterchief is not Halo then they can, hopefully, get a little more grounded in their direction.

I can give a lot of grace for these seasons pre Halo ring but their are certain pillars of the show that have to be hit. Like Chief has to arrive at the Halo on the pillar of autumn and the ship has to crash on it and captain keys needs to die from flood infection. Plus several other pillars. (For a second I thought silver team was going straight to the Ring in this final episode and I was gonna be mad). My hope is the writers agree with me that certain aspects can’t be bypassed, which means whatever season we get to the Halo ring on, then there is a lot less writing for them because the path is already laid out. My hope is that this first season didn’t give us the battle for Reach or to the Halo Ring is that they can basically try to demonstrate the show is a hit and they will get a bigger budget for the following seasons which would need a bigger budget. It would actually be nice to get mostly an entire season around the covenant invasion of Reach.

Before it happened in the episode I made a joke moon knight and how chief could switch places with cortana and I’m annoyed that I was right like seriously.

I told you another FU to us the fans.
