With rumors circulating that the Halo TV show will (finally) begin filming this fall I thought it might be a good time to discuss some theories and what we want from the show. Obviously, be good is on top of the list so I don’t think that needs to be said. I’ll state what I think would make a good show and then ask some questions I believe correlate to my opinion (feel free to add your own answers and add more questions if you think of them).
The show’s probable release date seems to be around Halo 6’s probable release, implying that it will be a tie-in series (after 5 but before or during 6). I don’t think this is a good idea because of all the complaints I’ve seen about having to know too much lore to understand Halo 5’s campaign. Not a good idea to have that much backlash and then make a show that you need to watch to understand Halo 6. What I want is an adaptation of the books. Start with Fall of Reach as Season 1, or half of Season 1, then do First Strike, Ghosts of Onyx, etc. A TV show allows the book to be adapted correctly without having too much stuff need to be cut out to fit a two-hour movie. Now granted, you would have to play the games to understand a lot of the books, so it wouldn’t attract many new fans, which could be good or bad. So that’s my ideal Halo show, I’ll now post the questions I came up with to tie to this wish list.
Should it tie into Halo 6? Should it attract newcomers or be for current Halo fans only? What time frame should it be (Insurrection, Covenant War, Reclamation Saga, etc.)? Should it focus on Spartans and other main characters, or lesser know characters? Should it be based on the books or something new? I would like to hear people’s opinions on this. Thanks for reading!
