I believe this Halo TV show is already setting up to become a disaster. It seems to have no intention of following the canon considering there is a human character raised by the covenant (which goes against the lore in so many ways), and the actor cast to play Captain Keyes isn’t even the same race as the Captain Keyes in, you know, THE LORE. These may seem like very frivolous gripes to some, but to me they are signs that this show will not take the Halo universe seriously and become more of a joke than actual quality television.
Since there is a high chance all critistical threads will be locked. We need to keep voicing our opinion in order for them to think about what fans want rather than the hollywood bosses.
This isnt a halo story, its fanfiction to me because whatever its going to be about they changed to much from the lore so i wont watch/support ruined adaptions of tv shows or movies.
I never believed I would ever say something like this, but I will not be watching the Halo TV show. As someone on Reddit put it, this isn’t like a fan fiction because no fan would treat the lore this poorly.

So -Yoink- the canon and the fanbase, also lets just change our character’s ethnicity to pander to a minority group that didn’t even -Yoinking!- ask for it. Nice one 343.
Are you really trying to use a character’s race as one of your examples for a show being a potential disaster when it wouldn’t even matter in this scenario? You have a point with your first example, but this one is extremely weak and not worth mentioning.

When it comes to canon, it most certainly does matter.

The race of a character changing is a rather minor issue imo. But it can’t be ignored that it could cause some confusion for those who are using the show to get their feet wet when diving into the extended lore. I think the issue for me on this is the fact that there are plenty of diverse characters in the Halo universe already, so changing the race of a character seems more like a strange decision than a bad one.
But the other issues are far more pressing. Miranda was never a doctor… I’d be fine with the show saying she is gifted in the sciences and wants to learn more, which only makes sense considering who her mother is. But adding to her impressive CV that she somehow also attained a PhD is a step or two too far. Halsey and Jacob Keyes getting married is also a step too far, though I guess it could be reconciled as being a secret. BUT, the biggest lore break is the woman being raised by the Covenant. It’s too soon to tell if that means a splinter faction is raising her, or if the Covenant proper is raising her… either way it’s just weird and goes against Covenant doctrine.

Waiting years for a decent thing on TV about Halo…to get a woke based trash…GG Microsoft!
Next time Master Chief will be a trans asian black girl who thinks she is a Covenant trans who is in fact a Forerunner trans, because well, why not?
Halo died when Bungie leave.
And 343 consulted on the project ? I would love to see a series on Halo. This seems to be smearing. Thanks…343
