Halo TV Series Story vs Infinite

That fair. I never detested any of the Halo games before Infinite, and I only detest Infinite because it was promised to be so much more than it was. And I wanted them to play out Halo 5s story but not try to hit the undo button which I felt they were trying to do the entire time. It was the first game that left me not wanting to play more but the series is keeping me in the Halo universe for now. Your right about the lack of visuals though if 343 just added different things to Infinites environment my opinion could’ve been a little different

I saw the “VS” in the title and thought this was going to give an example of the good and the bad. Or something at least. That’s my fault for expecting.

I think the first episode of the show was good. Ep 2 and 3 didn’t sucked and felt like MC’s therapy sessions. And where is the action? I finished the Mandalorian a month ago and I was expecting this show to me more like that since its tied to a IP that is action packed. Again, my fault for expecting. The more I watch the more I see that “alternate universe” is just a way to coverup that this was scripted as an original SiFi show that nobody wanted to make, until they found a way to attach it to a well known IP.

Still, too early to judge the whole season. Maybe it’ll get better.

I think the decision to try the “open world” thing ended up shooting the campaign’s memorability in the foot by making almost everything happen on the PNW ring surface or tin the blue hallway Forerunner interior spaces. Not great…

And I’m glad you and a lot of others liked H4 and 5- they just both sorely missed the mark for me.

In any story there has to be a little build up before the action. An example in Infinite is when you have to travel to all the spires for some reason to get data for your AI. No action just walking around the map listening to new Cortana. That wasn’t really even a fun buildup just Infinite putting boring ways to pass the time in the campaign. The last 2 episodes of the series was more just build up but it gave us interesting takes on the character (Cortana/Halsey/Katherine/rando Asian girl). The 2nd episode kinda bored me but the 3rd one with Cortana even if I’m not crazy how she looks her back and forth with the Chief made it worthwhile

I don’t know what you qualify as action but I had a lot of enemies to shoot through in those sections in Infinite when going from point A to B. Then some more when I got to B. Replaying those sections on Heroic, Legendary, and LASO did not feel like they lacked action.

I personally do not mind the new takes on the characters. I like that one dude who looks like evil Dave Chappelle. I just think they could have fit an action scene or two in each episode and still have the build up to the “big one,” like they did in The Mandolorian. I also hoped that we’d see less of chief’s face, like in The Mandolorian. Maybe The Mandolorian spoiled me because in shows like Battlestar Galactica I liked the build up and the character moments. Right now I just did not feel like the last two episodes were good, but maybe in hindsight they can work once the season is finished and we have the full story to look at.

The alternate universe is exactly why I have no interest in it.

I’m struggling with the TV show, we have so many games and books they could of based a series on and they’re making their own stuff up. It just seems lazy not looking at the source material.

based on a shooting game… set during an intergalactic war with an alien species hellbent on killing most if not all of the human race, so yea I’d really like to see the soldiers who were kidnapped specifically to fight the enemies of the UNSC to fight said enemies.

what strain are you smoking and where can i get some?

Halo TV show is HORRENDOUS, its literally every generic scifi TV show in a Halo wig, and infinites story was actually good, i enjoyed the idea of lore through audio logs, it really gave off the feeling of being stranded with basically no back up and never took you away from the smooth gameplay, i liked that

Some people enjoy a good story and some people enjoy a barren wasteland with next to nothing but a grapple hook and a different version of the covanent, hard truth is every halo fan wants something different, for me I just want a good story which the series is at least compared to Infinite and that’s coming from a guy who codes games as well, and unfortunately I view Halo Infinites code as a bunch of slopping laziness

Halo Infinite is generic open world game minus all the features of an open world and is only Halo because Master Chief happens to be in it, not one other single Halo character we knew and grew up with were in it so I mean your opinion is just that

So go play the games again if you want the exact same story told, and if you want to watch a guy never take off his helmet watch the Mandalorian. This is a different take but more effort appears to be in this vs Infinite

sure, man if you can watch these episodes and think oh was well written dialogue between this 7ft tall death machine with little to no emotion and a petulant child who instead of admitting that the hyper advanced alien group that just destroyed all of her family and friends is the real threat, is a good show so far, more power too you but I figured a show based off of an action game would have some action in more than just the first 15 minutes of episode 1

The TV series is crap, it doesn’t even feel like Halo.
At least the campaign, you can tell it is Halo, and personally, it is the best 343 campaign ever

I’ll recommend the Mandalorian too. Besides the helmet staying on, it’s a good show made with love and care.

Its sad to see people support the HALO tv show. IT is utter garbage. They changed so much from the lore they should have just made a completely new type of show. So many companies jumping on the trend train thanks to Infinites release.
Literally the only things I like about the show is that they kept Jen Taylor as Cortana’s voice and the plasma damage was cool, but the rest of the show is dog manure. Revealing chiefs face on the first episode was a stupid and unnecessary act. Having chief walk around without armor nearly two whole shows, when in the lore the spartans rarely remove their armor, even for weeks and months. The timing of the show ruins the whole lore. Chief did not first engage the covenant on madrigal, that was at chi ceti V when they first got their armor, and they were like 15 years old then but the show has chief around 36-38 years old in the early years of the war. The covenant (san’shyum/prophets) despise the humans, they wouldn’t have one for their council. They’d used one like with miranda. Anyone who has played the games or knows the book lore would be repulsed by this superbly weak rendition of Halo. The more Halo stuff comes out now a days, the more I regress into the old media. . . It seems like no one can pick up the Halo title, know anything about it, and make a decent iteration of the franchise. And honestly, it shouldn’t be this hard. Most of the lore is already laid out, they could easily understand the lore and add to it and make it better but no one is doing that. Their just running their pathetic versions of Halo and all its related media down the drain. . .
Be like making a new version of Harry Potter but using the plot from Star trek and making it up as you go. Then they have the audacity to be mad that the “FANS” are mad. . . Uhhh, yeah we’re mad, because they are stupid… Fitting situation

My point was just comparing the series story to the Infinite campaign story, in which the series has Infinite beat. And if people are going to defend Halo Infinite despite it being the most bare bones open world game with the lamest campaign, Ima defend a tv series actually taking some risk. At least the show knows when you try to please everybody, you please no one. Infinite didn’t take a take a single risk, just tried to undo everything established from the past games, the series on the other hand has taken plenty of risk so far and is one of the most steamed shows despite haters such as yourself.

This. I think thats why i technically rate the show better than infinite. Its something that so far has kept me coming back to see where the show goes (as horrible as it is) whereas infinite I was honestly feeling bored after the first few levels and then was utterly underwhelmed by an ending I forced myself through in one sitting because if I didn’t, I was never going to actually play it.

Infinite’s story is just 343 throwing red covenant and didact 2.0 at us, except lazier. I guess we at least got a boss battle against Didact 2.0, more plot irrelevant edition. I’m not actually sure why the Harbinger doesn’t like us and we don’t like her, beyond her being kind of mean to us once.

I mean, the time of the forerunners IS at an end, they’re dead (or gone). And it just seems the Endless got caged up cause they survived the halo’s and didn’t like the forerunners wiping out all life in the galaxy (as anyone would).
