One thing i find interesting, is that in ep 8 alot of the community thought Makee touching the artifact was going to lead the covenant to reach and trigger the fall of reach. This made a degree of sense as the last time the artifact got triggered we got episode 5’s covie attack.
Its amazing how much faith the community had, even knowing how bad/deviated the show was, that they were trying to tie things back into halo in the end. And then of course we get ep9 which just ends up being weird and progressing the plot very little outside of chief’s ‘development’.
But I think this series is telling just how out of touch 343 industries is with what made halo great. The producers of the show cited 343 as their primary source of info. Even if they hadn’t played the games, you’d think talking to the creators of the game would instill the importance of various plot elements.
And what do we get? Pointless sidestories, halsey evil, species swapped random name references, and crybaby war criminal traitor chief. Parts of it make me think about some of the unpopular narrative choices in 343’s early tenure.
Its really quite amazing that this, out of so many scripts, is the one that got the seal of approval. Its almost like someone finds actual halo problematic or something.
