Assuming that the Forerunner were indeed fine tuning the Halo Array’s parameters for what it needed to wipe out, do you think it could be tuned to wipe out all physical matter it came in contact with instead of just neural stuff? Essentially, do you think that it could have been an option (not that they’d ever use it,) for them to use the array to completely wipe out portions of the galaxy?
I think that it might have been possible for the forerunners to create another similar array that would do that, but I do not think that the halo array as it is would have been able to, although maybe with extensive modification.
What makes you think the Halo array could be fine tuned in any way, beyond selective firing of individual rings as opposed to the array as a whole?
Well they set the parameters as such that they ended up not just killing off things with nervous systems, but things that even just remotely resembled them. On top of that, we’ve a separate yet (semi) related point where they’ve set the rings to fire directionally instead of the current omni-directional system. They obviously know how to modify it to targets specific things, I was just wondering to what extent, and whether or not the thoughts in the OP were plausible.
