Halo Traditions, What's Yours?

Tradition since Halo CE, go to the midnight launch, pick up the most expensive copy of the game, (this year includes the console and the LE), go straight home to the living room set up with 4 LCD tv’s, and myself and my four friends play through campaign on Legendary. You have to play Legendary on the first go because it’s not as much of a challenge if you know what’s going to happen. Here’s my steps, I strongly advise you guys to give this a try:

Step 1: Pick a friends house or your own to set up your station.

Step 2: Set up 4 or less TV’s depending on the number of people with you.

Step 3: Buy plenty of snacks, and pop (probably with caffeine), for everyone to have throughout the night, (yes you will be staying up all night)

Step 4: Call off from all your responsibilities for, in this case, the 6th of November.

Step 5: Go to the midnight launch right when it starts. (some start as soon as 9 pm). Why the hell not, midnight launches are some of the most fun I’ve had through my childhood, and I’m 24 now.

Step 6: Get your copy of the game (you don’t need to most expensive copy), go home and make an unboxing video while you open your copy for the first time.

Step 7: Start the game up and for God’s sake WATCH THE OPENING VIDEO! Take in everything the first time you load the game up, because let’s be honest you never will again.

Step 8: If you have 3 or 4 people, play through the game on Legendary. If you have only 1 person with you or are trying this on your own, I would go with Heroic, otherwise it may turn into a very frustrating experience.

Step 9: Play all the way through the campaign first, because in all honesty, once you start playing Spartan Ops or War Games it’s going to be somewhat harder to pull yourself away from this to go back to campaign.

FINAL STEP: Once you finish the game it will probably be close to morning, unless you skip all the cinematics (you’re an idiot if you do the first time through), take a nap maybe, and wake up and dig into the multiplayer and spend the whole day getting used to it and having fun with it.

After this one day, you will be well versed on how multiplayer works, and also will be caught up on the story so far in the Halo Universe. Now you can go back and look for easter eggs, and skulls, and other secrets. Its worked out for me since I was 12 years old.

Disclaimer- If you are under the age of 15, ask your parents about doing this, I found that when I was younger my parents were more accepting of this if I was honest with them.

FINALLY- What are your Halo Traditions? How long have you been doing this?

Step 1: Go to Gamestop midnight release.

Step 2: Play entire Campaign on Normal

that’s what I always do first.

I’ve been doing this since Halo 3’s release (joined Halo with Halo 2 in late 2006).

Faint from excitement.

Play campaign on Legendary with my friend JD

Call into work morning of launch, and two more days after, I always end up taking two days after up a week after the launch off. I immerse myself for week one

  1. Grab my copy from the store at midnight

  2. Go home and lock myself in my man cave

  3. Play through Campaign on Heroic, the way Halo was meant to be played

  4. Cry at how beautiful it is.

I’ve been doing this since the midnight for Halo 2

play the campaign on each difficulty, starting easy, going up to and finishing with legendary. also do it both coop and single.

I don’t have any traditions, least of all Halo traditions. Traditions are inhibiting and much more trouble than they’re worth.

Il be going midnight, tgen getting hone go bed then work and play on Legendary solo when i get back as i have done with all halo’s.

My tradition is to pick up the game at midnight, then go home and play multiplayer until I’m ready to pass out. When I wake up, I either go back to multi (if my friends are playing) or I start up the campaign on Heroic.

I try to play co-op with as many of my friends as possible, for the first time. For Reach I only had my cousin, and for Halo 3 I had my cousin and one friend. This time I expect I’ll have more than enough for four-person co-op. Better be awesome, 343!

Say what you will about Reach’s campaign (and much has been said), its co-op did not disappoint. Halo 3’s barely scaled, but Reach’s co-op on Legendary could be tough as nails.

go home with my brother with our copies of the new hawtness. the both of us bet $20 on who gets killed by a marine first. complete the campaign and take my $40.

2 Campaign missions, 1 MP.
Rinse-Repeat

Also forgot to mention I smoke at least 3 bols of Hookah during the campaign.

I’m going to pick it up right after work. I don’t think military has the 6th off.
Anyways i’ll start legendary on my own until completion. This will probably take until the weekend as I’m married, and I work from 0630- at least 1700.

Then it’s Spartan Ops then multilayer!

My tradition is always changing what I do before every launch.
Mix things up a little.

Midnight Launches and playing all night… were it so easy.

Unfortunately Nov 6th is a Tuesday, and if I have any labs the next day in uni (quite likely), I need to get a valid doctor’s note to prove why I missed it or get kicked off my course. Anyone know a doctor who’s a Halo fan in Northern Ireland? =/

Forge (since Halo 3) to test how all the weapons play, vehicles drive/pilot and all the fun stuff in the new game.

If this doesn’t have to be based on getting the game the first time, here is my everyday tradition on Halo Reach.

1.Turn on game.

2.Look at daily challenges for the best ones to do.

3.Play on multiplayer.

4.Go on Forge to check out custom maps.

5.Custom games.

Oh wait! Thats my routine!
