And the best is still yet to come. Map packs havent even come out yet, doubles and MLG arent in matchmaking, and a ranking system is still to come (which hopefully is visible in game.) 343 deserves major props for making the multiplayer gameplay so exciting. It isnt perfect, but every flaw the game has is fixable and I think all in game flaws will be gone when in an MLG playlist. I loved Halo 3, but something about this games’ gameplay is more exciting to me. It feels nothing like Reach which had awful gameplay and everything else.
To the people calling this a CoD clone…open your mind a bit. I’m probably the biggest CoD hater in the world, but I love pretty much all the additions that 343i has made. Did this game take some things from CoD? Yes. But they made it somehow fit perfectly. Nothing is too overpowered like weapons and perks in CoD. This game actually takes skill and if you dont like some of the extra stuff just play slayer pro. I will probably get flamed hard for this, but this game is definately more fun than Halo 3. The only reason I could play Halo 3 for long periods of time was the fact that there was a ranking system. This game doesnt even have a ranking system yet and I havent even been bored of this game for 1 second. It doesnt even matter how many consecutive hours I play.
Is this game flawless? No. Glitches, lack of maps, lag, bad killcams, some missing playlists, no file shares yet, etc. Are Halo 2 or 3 perfect? NO! H2 was loaded with modders and H3 had derankers and host booters. Were they still awesome games? Hell yes. Is Halo 4 awesome too? Hell yes. When Halo 5 comes out I’m sure Halo 4 will be looked at as a great game (especially if 343 works on the fixable flaws listed in this paragraph.) When Halo 2 came out people hated it, now its considered he best. When halo 3 came out everybody complained about that too. Now it is praised. When Reach came out I didn’t see as much criticism in the first month. Now it is considered by everyone as the world Halo ever. Halo 4 is great, just enjoy it.
This game has me hooked and we haven’t even had a update yet. Hell, even the playlists are still minuscule. But because its so bare, but so fun at the same time…I can’t wait until they release the map packs, balance the weapons better, add community maps to MM, (hopefully) fix the custom games debacle and add new playlists such as Doubles, MLG, Multiteam, FFA SLAYER!! (looking at you 343i!)
Halo 4 at it’s core is fine. However, it’s COMPLETELY catered to social game play right now, which is unacceptable. I’m all for having a social playlist, but don’t take out the ranked one. This is probably one of the most unfinished Halo games I’ve seen. So many issues at launch, many unacceptable (looking at your, non working file share and lack of theater in Campaign and Spartan Ops).
I’m giving 343i around 6 months. They have until GTA V comes out to fix these issues. It’s more than fair.
I just want a FINISHED game. Is that too hard to ask?
Yup. Reach on the other hand had no hope. The game was terrible and couldnt be fixed. H4 is great and I cant think of anything about it that isnt fixable. Reach had horrible maps and I hated forge world maps because they all looked exactly the same and with everything being that stupid metal color you couldnt even tell what part of a map you were on when yiu spawned unless you looked around for a few seconds. And dont even get me started on stupid cartoonish graphics and sounds, too long killtimes, and everything else that even the updated MLG playlist couldnt fix.
at least when reach came out we knew it was going to be bad.
every1 expected halo 4 to be greater than halo 3 but it simply isn’t.
At least with reach we had EVERYTHING halo 1/2/3 had. (minus the bloom issue, and co-op theatre)

If it stayed exactly the same way it is now for two years I wouldnt be happy. But I know that wont happen. I would prefer ranked/social to be seperate but it looks like everything will be ranked which is fine by me since I’m a comletitive player. I cant wait until the ranking system so I can work on getting 50’s in as many playlists as I can, but for now the progressive system is a great hold over. So much better than reach’s progressive system which bored you to death and made you want to never play xbox again

This is not true at all. If everybody thought reach would suck then it wouldnt have sold so well in the frst week. Everybody was excited about halo adding new stuff and playing different because people were getting bored of halo 3 when the reason for that was because halo 3 was 3 years old. People thought something new would be great and while it could have been, it was a massive failure
That is, until you realize that 343i managed to remove more than they created. The Custom Games and Forge community will suffer a lot until they respond to the creative communities cry to re-add the options that they removed. The Game as a whole is good, but it doesn’t stand apart as much from another shooter title, because halo is starting to get less competitive, and more like CoD. Grinding to the next level ever since Reach when they instituted a xp/credit system. And now, the game is more about unlocking perk-like armor upgrades and armor customization than it is actually being skillful and having fun. And I honestly don’t think 343 did a great job with the specializations. They made them more like just levels where you can temporarily unlock things. You don’t even have to play your specialization, which is how it should be. A Wetwork, for instance, can go without ever using the stealth perk. Wetwork is basically a title to show people what upgrade youre unlocking. Same exact thing for every other spec. I think that right when you graduate from spartan IV at SR-50, you should go on to a specialization that gives you passive bonuses instead of support and tactical packages. And you should be able to switch between completed specializations, and whatever specialization in progress. It’s more of a grind than a playstyle.

I totally agree minus the social cater assertion. I love this actually. Separating social and ranked just makes it harder to find games let alone games that may include players of your skill level.
I have had the most gripes with this game out of all the other Halos. I could make a list but that would go on forever. I’m confident that they’ll update it to its full potential like bungie did with reach though.
saying that halo 4 totally makes up for the pile of garbage that was halo reach (MP) is simply ridiculous, its like saying that halo was a bad franchise JUST because of halo reach.

Yes reach was terrible. It was even worse than any cod game. I thought halo was never going to return to popularity again but halo 4 did it. You can argur that it didn’t completely make up for it, because yes reach was unbearably bad. I never once played reach for an hour or more straight without some boredom. Even on launch day. That is pathetic. This game I have had many days where I played 5+ hours and ive never been bored for 1 second. Its crazy. I never even felt that way with halo 3. Thats why I think it makes up for it.
