Halo Timed Challenges

I’ve always loved the idea of timed challenges. Forza Horizon 3 has 343 total challenges they have added to the game since launch, which was a nice bonus/incentive for going back into the game, for example, “Complete 3 Street Races in an Extreme Offroad vehicle to win the Warthog”. Why hasn’t Halo adopted this? they implemented it with spartan ops, and I feel as Halo is a HUGE xbox exclusive, they would want to help showcase their new achievement system.

Any thoughts from the community?

Warzone Firefight is timed

What do you mean by this?

OP is asking about Timed Challenges - a feature that is similar to Achievements.

Since I don’t play that Forza whatever game, it wasn’t clear from the OP that “timed challenges” are similar to achievements. I figured Warzone Firefight is technically a timed challenge, but thanks for clearing that up.

No worries!

There are actually several other games that have used this feature.
AC Black Flag
Alien Isolation
Halo Spartan Assault
and many more.

I think the hype kinda died a few years ago around this feature, probably too many complaints from people with FOMO or something - but I would have loved it to continue.

I wouldn’t mind it. Halo 5 could have used more challenge-based unlocks. Also I miss the daily and weekly challenges, too

I second this I loved the daily and weekly challenges in reach

Imagine that every week a new achievement popped up like “get 30 kills with the reach grenade launcher” and it rotated on a weekly basis, varying the different challenges.

It would definitely help those that are struggling to get gold packs without paying for them if these challenges also provided a generous portion of Req points.

Yeah that would be nice

Reachs daily/weekly challenges were extremely addictive. I did them every day for almost 2 years lol. These style of challenges are currently part of halo wars 2. There’s 3 weekly challenges that get reset every sunday. And 3 new challenges per day. The reward for these challenges is extra xp toward your rank and free blitz packs. For those not familiar with hw2, blitz is a new game mode where u use a deck of cards and each card represents a military unit for use in the match. Only way to get new cards is to buy blitz packs with real money or unlock them through daily/weekly challenges. My point is 343 is aware of these types of challenges and might put them in Halo 6. Halo 5 does kind of have daily challenges with the warzone daily win pack, war zone firefight daily win pack and the arena daily win pack. Those reward packs are like timed challenges

While these types of timed challenges would be awesome in H5 or H6, and they were great in Reach and HW2, it is getting a little bit away from the OP, which I think was talking about Xbox Achievement style Challenges.

I’d honestly love to see both.

I liked them in Reach although some of them got repetitive. If they were in this game, it would’ve gave people an incentive to play multiplayer and the campaign so I think it was a missed opportunity.

I’ve never played forza horizon. I thought the op meant challenges where u have a limited time to accomplish them before they are reset or replaced with a new challenge. But now I’m thinking i misunderstood “timed challenges”

They are an Xbox thing, not ‘in game’.

They really aren’t prevalent anymore, but here’s a little bit of old info about them:

Thanks for the info. I had never heard of Xbox One’s challenge system. I didn’t buy an Xbox One till 2015 but I honestly didn’t like Halo 5 at release with no firefight, big Team Battle, grifball Etc. So I didn’t even use my Xbox One or get into Halo 5 until June of 2016 when they released firefight. So I have never seen these Challenges or even heard of this challenge system till now

You can try the MCC timed achievements.

Again, we’re not talking about regular achievements - I assume you mean the Par Time for each level etc.

We’re talking about a different kind of Achievement altogether, a Challenge, that was first introduced around Xb1 launch - but has since died away for the most part.

It has become an EXTREMELY underused feature, with only 4 games currently using it.

Here’s a link to the current active ones:
https://www.trueachievements.com/challenges.aspx

They are ‘challenge achievements’ that are only active for a limited time, offer no gamerscore, and instead they offer in-game unlocks or art or other such things.

There is the legendary speed run for finishing the campaign in under 3 hours. What I want back are the daily, weekly and monthly challenges. Those were fun to get.
