Hello. I noticed the main forum has brrn inactive for days, so i decided to make this thread.
I’m playing this special playlist in these days. I’m a bit disappointed because they didn’t touch the gameplay, so we have the same identical abilities.
But, i have to say, the maps are really fun, and so is when i play with Halo CE Magnum.
I think 343 should make maps like these, in my opinion.
Also, i would suggest to add these maps in Slayer playlist, if possible.
These maps would be terrible in a slayer playlist. I’ve got respect for the maps, but they have no flow with the Halo 5 mechanics and really aren’t up to scratch with the tier of maps the rest of the slayer maps live up to.
I enjoy it. I’ve seen a lot of complaints but everyone has their own opinion. I think a lot of my enjoyment comes from the nostalgia. Recalling what it was like to step into those maps “back in the day”. Finding the old hiding spots that brought forth so much killing. lol -Yoink!- be the players that were so unfortunate to have never played them before. lol First game on Battle Creek I finished with a Perfection and a Rampage. Seriously? Who doesn’t know how to get on top of the base? Turns out a lot of people didn’t that game. lol
The maps are fun but they are deluded by the gameplay. That’s pretty much the general complaint about the throwback playlist. It’s the unholy union of classic and 343iV

While I tend to not let myself get wrapped up in the negativity directed at “New Halo” I have to agree that including the Spartan Abilities, Sprint, and etc in the throwback playlist kinda defeated the purpose of it all. I still enjoyed it, but it felt so very off and would probably have been so much better without them.

In most of the games I had there were only two types of people: People who primarily used the Magnum and went out of control with their kill count and aimed for hiding spots and other areas… And people who tried to primarily use the Assault Rifle while running around blindly and had abysmal kill counts. Wasn’t much middle ground there, but there were a few games where it was more mixed; but those who knew the original maps, and those who knew the true potential of the CE Pistol, were the ones who ruled those battlegrounds. As should be expected, of course.

I think Hang Em High works well with the H5 abilities
Whether they “flow” well or not, for me it is all about nostalgia…that feeling I had when my friends and I would have our lan nights back in the CE days.Hell the first time I played the remake of Hang Em High I was nearly in tears because it brought back so many memories of the CE days. For the first time in a while I feel like I am having fun again and not just grinding away.
At least for me it proves two things, Spartan charge continues to ruin gameplay, while sprint and clamber do not. I played classic its fun .I love the maps I would like to see the maps alternate between the CE pistol and H2 BR for starting weapons. For all the arguing about sprint , it did not hurt the gameplay in those maps at all none whatsoever. Same is true for clamber. But spartan charge continues to be rage inducing.

Agreed. I would also add, that this playlist would be awesome if they would alternate the CE pistol with the H2BR. the H2B2 would slow the pace down a bit making it feel more like the originals.
I’m really loving playing on these maps, very well made! IMO the CE Pistol can be very frustrating with how easy it is to use. I hate being cross-mapped perfected without even getting a chance to react. I agree with spartan x169x about the H2BR, great idea.
Playing this made me up my aim acceleration, and this has made me a better player overall. I also mopped up some of those CE pistol perfect kills too.
Did I mention that the maps are gorgeous?
And I really needed to chill out on the Chill out remake (did you see what I did there?). I ran in circles around the map like a madman. I couldn’t find any way to control the map. I just ran in endless circles. It felt like a tiny map, yet it wasn’t.
