Halo: The Journey!

Halo: Combat Evolved Singleplayer took us on a unique journey, descovering the secrets of the forerunners and their mystical rings. However it was the classic mutliplayer experience that I remember most. Gathering around the TV with friends and siblings screaming profanities at one another while passing around the controller each time we died. Nothing fancy, just you and your gun vs the world.

Halo 2 was the first time we saw the covenants perspective through the eyes of the arbiter, the pistol was replaced with the BR, the assault rifle was removed and xbox live changed our multiplayer experience. The singleplayer story had plenty of twists and turns and Halo fans embarked on a totally new quest online, the never ending quest for level 50!. Despite the changes it still felt like the Halo that we all knew and loved, new and improved.

Halo 3 saw the return of the assault rifle, equipment, forge and theater mode. The same dynamic remained, returning us to the unique experience that brought us back to Halo, time and time again…

Halo: Reach added a new perspective on the Halo universe with a prequel to the first 3 games. Bloom, armour abilities, the DMR and Loadouts were introduced, the BR was scrapped. Suddenly the dynamic had been shattered and Halo didn’t feel like Halo anymore! Bungie had tried to fix something that wasn’t broken and the result was devastating, causing die hard fans like myself to hang up our controllers and return to reality! With no other options, I was forced to get a job, move out of my mothers garage and become a productive member of society! Something was wrong, very wrong

Halo 4: Initial Thoughts
When I heard about the release of Halo 4, there was a glimmer of hope that maybe 343 could restore the series to its former glory. Until I read the latest bulletin, which to be honest had me concerned about the direction of the game. Loadouts, armour abilties, bloom and weapon drops have me in a cold sweat; questioning the unmistakable Reach influence. Is reach a better game in the eyes of the majority? Have the die hard fans been left behind?

What do you think about the direction of Halo 4?

I love the way Halo 4 is headed and Halo Reach was my favourite.

Your OP is too opinionated. Try and see what we liked about it.

Why Halo Reach?

I have recently gotten Halo 2 now I have all the Halos and so far Halo 2 is my favorite

> Why Halo Reach?

Because everyone could have a chance against each other.

Because you couldnt camp and kill everyone without a exposed backside.

Because you had to pace your shots to be good.

BECAUSE THE NET CODE ACTUALLY WORKED.

In my opinion Halo 2 Halo had the best campaign experience.

REACH DESTROYED HALO!!!1111 Why do we (reach fans) here this so much? If I say HALO 3 sucked, I get called a dirty traitor.

I agree. I also liked the new an improved forge, I admit I spent countless hours building maps. what disappionted me the most was the drastic change in the gameplay from Halo 3, It just didn’t feel like the same game I had played for the better part of a decade, if I want to sprint around the map, have reticle bloom and use perks/ability loadouts I will play Call of duty.

I liked every Halo game more than any other game on the market ever. Halo 3 being my favourite with excellent forge objects with a variety of maps and objects along with custom games to add so much replay value to the game, the campaign being the best I’ve ever played in a video game in my life and the multiplayer was by far the best.

Halo Reach, I loved it. The campaign was better than a non-Halo game but still wasn’t as good as the rest of them. The forge wasn’t good because of the grey objects but the forge tools were pretty good. The multiplayer, allot of people disliked, I liked it. Yes, sometimes loadouts got really annoying and the balance was ruined sometimes but I really did have fun on Halo Reach multiplayer. The graphics made it seem much more realistic, it actually feels like you’re on the battlefield along with the sounds and the fact that you can’t jump as high made it seem more realistic.

I’m hoping Halo 4 can please both Halo 3 fans and Halo Reach fans because I don’t really mind what direction it takes. Whichever pleases the majority, pleases me.

Do you guys like raging at each other ? Is it fun for you seems like people put up certain post so you guys can fight over which game was best and which one sucked. We all have our own opinion why fight over this ?

Although I thought this was funny. The fact that you claim you have to dislike Reach in order to be a “true” Halo fan is severely wrong. I have been playing Halo for 10 years, loved every single game, book and aspect of the universe. I’ve have spent a stupid amount of time playing the Halo games and I think Reach is a excellent game in it’s own right.

Don’t claim that by liking Reach, you drop your status as a Halo fan…

You have a point, Would I be right in saying that Halo reach did not cater for the more competitive players? The guys that you would find in the ranked playlists for example?

halo 4 is gonna feel closer to halo 3 and halo 2 then reach every could but it will also implement some of halo reachs features also , this is becasue they want to bring the die-hards back and the reach fans. This time around its going to be beter then every, the previous halos felt closer and more of a tighter game which lead to better gameplay but reach was more wide and everything was big and blocky.Halo 4 will not be like that i am sure of this just from the little gameplay clips i have seen. Check out the link below and ell me if i am wrong

Yeah I would think that’s a better way of putting it. Although some people will consider it competitive, but I agree that it defiantly lacks it a lot compared to Halo 3.

Now these are the kind of topics I don’t mind seeing. The OP clearly is worried about the direction of Halo, but also shows it in a constructive and adult sense. Unlike most of the people on this forum, who bluntly state that Halo’s gonna outright suck. So thanks for the refreshing post OP, and, though I have my own reservations about the game, I believe it’s gonna be new and different, but will ultimately feel like the Halo we love.

I think they learned from Reach, and the features that are being implemented from Reach to H4 are going to be polished and better overall.

I like them all. Books and comics included. But if you asked me what I would pick, it has to be CE for the simple truth it started the magical journey that is Halo… without it, we don’t have any of the others.

Good, you could use the sun and fresh air.

On a more serious note, I didn’t enjoy Reach as much as other Halo games, but it in no way broke Halo’s classic dynamics. Imo, the true essence of Halo is moderately long kill times, a versatile and useful sandbox that rewards picking up weapons (no power weapon spawns), and a basis in skilled, thought-out gameplay
