Halo: The Fall of Reach Animated Series

To some Spartans disappointment, the Halo TV show has yet to materialize. Instead Halo: The Fall of Reach Animated Series will be exploring the origins of the Master Chief and Blue Team. People who have read the novel and comic book series of the same name already have an idea of their origins, but it will be interesting and fun to see what 343 have cooked upšŸ˜‹.

This comes with Limited Edition and Limited Collector’s Edition.

Pretty re that Frankie confirmed it was still going [tv show] somewhere.

Read the books and now I am excited for a more or less visual interpretation of it all.

Yep on neogaf… If I was to put money on i’d say we should hear something at comiccon 2015 if anything at all.

Give me the Halo TV Show.

Give it to me first however, and then I can keep it for years as the Halo community destroys my door trying to reach it.

Well, people were wondering how Blue Team would be introduced to non-Lore people. Anyone who only played the games would assume Master Chief is the last Spartan-II. Bungie even printed this in the Halo 2 and 3 instruction manuals even though the novels printed at the time said otherwise. So now we have an animated series which will bring these people up to date.

I’m pretty stoked about visually seeing the events of Reach surrounding Blue Team.

My precious…

Will it just be a single short movie, or closer to FUD and Nightfall?

There’s a lot of potential here, provided it’s well received by the fans.

Here’s to hoping they stick with the Eric Nylund storylines and don’t retcon things as we saw with the Halo Fall of Reach Bootcamp/Covenant/Invasion comics. I’m all for certain changes that improve the story eg: using a nuke to destroy the ā€˜Unrelenting’ from within (where Sam dies) rather than managing to destroy it with just HE rocket payloads thrown into the reactor… but I want to see the ā€˜Hard Drop’ of red team shot for shot, and for the defence of the Orbital Defence Generator complex to be the strategic plan of offense/deffense rather than the ā€˜suicidal last stand’ shown in t:he comic.
Perhaps we’ll finally get the Jun/Halsey issue cleared up?

Thing is, Nylund’s story only really works if the Covenant are extremely stupid, like they’re portrayed in the first two Nylund books. Like, no one with a functioning frontal lobe (and especially not a race that achieved space travel independently centuries before humanity did, like the Sangheili) would just rush the orbital defense grid when you KNOW that your super sniping ship that can easily take each ODP out one at a time is on the way.

I’m glad there’s a tv show but how about a halo movie!!!

Sounds cool, but ANOTHER Fall of Reach project? I’m not too impressed with that. IF it incorporates First Strike then that changes things.

Stupid how? What specifically do you consider to be errors made by the covenant? (admittedly shipping random stuff you don’t understand home eg: NOVA bombs is questionable) I don’t recall a time that there were any glaring issues with combat (baring the lack of camo, artillery and other real world weaponry that is absent on both sides) not being a -Yoink- about it, I just don’t remember there being and tactical mistkes made.
Obviously there technologies pulled out of Bungies butt such as teleportation, and cloaking entire armies seen in Reach, but these were a recent addition to the series.

Certainly looking forward to it.
I have only listened to the Eric Nylund audio book of Fall of Reach and absolutely loved it , It will be cool to see it visually.

Yeah, the comic adaptation really robbed all the intensity from Red Team’s re-entry sequence. I’d really love it see realized as it was in the book, though I highly doubt they’ll adapt every set piece from First Strike. But they have to include the game of ā€œRing the Bellā€ and the Keyes Loop, which were left out of the comic for some unfathomable reason.

please…please be blur animation.

I believe that Fall of Reach events arch is the best of the whole canon, some developer seems to agree with me…
I do understand who asks for something new, there are many other interesting and unexplained periods in the halo universe, but I can’t complain, I’ll never be sick of the fall of Reach. But every time they do this, they get exposed to incongruences and inconsistencies. Visual ones being the less important, still interesting to confront these two images:
Series
Comic
Which is canon? The comic’s art is not to be considered canon, even if its excessively ā€œdirty military sci-fiā€ style is amazing. Also animated series’ (such as legends) style isn’t considered canon. Fidelity in this image looks high, that’s appreciable. I’m very interested in costumes and while John’s new one in really nice, Mendez too, Halsey’s uniform shouldn’t have been changed, it gave her more the style of Director of an ONI Special Projects Division Program than research and development civilian scientist. Also, she has to get sick of the same cloth after 40+ years, no?

With innie/covie-lovers spreading, a bit of good old ONI, terrorist innies and genocidial aliens won’t harm. Please 343, don’t rewrite the canon, DO NOT! That, changing my favourite piece of canon to ā€œONI is -Yoink-, Halsey is -Yoink-, Maggie is a nice grandma, every UNSC personal is incompetentā€, would put an end to my already stretched tolerance.
#Remember Reach

@Dirty Rascal: wanted to make a thread on this yesterday but had no time, well done!

As mentioned above, covenant naval tactic are well…terribly lacking. FoR even goes out to mention this on a couple of occasions, describing them fighting like animals (and not in a positive way). It makes it feel like their victories are entirely due to numbers and technology. As if Thel, with control of such a massive fleet, merely yelled ā€œCHARGE!ā€ as his only order. Yes, the battle was won, but not really on the merit of any real stratagem. A lot of covie losses could have likely been avoided.

Then again, I think that was the original intent. The covie were supposed to be somewhat primitively religious types who got their technology from the squids. There’s not really too many great showings of strategy anywhere beyond some active camo stealth tricks. But people like to hype up the elites being an awesome race, and Thel is supposed to be a tactical genius.
