I thought it would be nice to in sometime in the future get a Halo themed tattoo as a memory to all of the hours I’ve spent in these games. I’ve played them since I was 10 :’)
I’d like it to be pretty small and preferably only black (or at least only a few colours). Maybe placed on the wrist or something like that.
I discussed this with a friend and we thought the Superintendent from ODST or the Splatter medal would be the funniest. I want to be able to smile when I look at it. :))
I think both options are great for a small tattoo, and the Splatter medal looks better overall. However, if you’re looking to stick with a black/shaded tattoo, then the Superintendent might look better. Talking to an artist to see where you could get it and what shading options you have for each design might give you a better idea of how it will turn out, too.
I’ve been toying with the idea of getting a tattoo of some sort for a while, although not necessarily Halo-themed. If I were to get one like this though, it would probably be the emblem I used from Halo 2 to Reach. I believe it was the Phoenix variant with a recurring color scheme. It was my Halo identity, so to speak, which holds some value to me as a Halo player.
I already have a Halo tattoo actually. It’s Master Chief on my left bicep. It was the start for my video game sleeve I’ve been working on for a few years. Along with it I have Yuna from Final Fantasy on my forearm and a lotus flower holding the Zelda Triforce on my hand. Eventually I will be getting a Gears Of War, Lost Odyssey, and The Witcher tattoo’s added to finish it off.
As for you. I would go with a splatter medal. There are some creative things you could do with that. Like have a grunt in the center with confetti surround the medal to give it that nice splash of color and detail to make it stand out.

Thanks for the advice! I’ll probably go talk to someone then, sounds like a smart thing to do!
And yeah the emblem idea is cool, a lot of nostalgia embedded into one of those i can imagine.

I like this idea. A small Grunt with some birthday confetti popping out would represent a lot of the Halo games all at once. Plus, who doesn’t love Grunts?

I also thought about grunts but I had a hard time figuring out how you could make a nice looking one without using a lot of colours and details. Feels to me like it has to get pretty big to look good.

Those are good options but personally I would choose something more serious, like the UNSC or ONI logos.

Think about what this will turn into in 20 years or so. A splatter medal will likely end up as just a splash of color with little visible detail. Try to get something where the details are basic and don’t run together to much. Also bright colors tend to fade or have a hard time staying in place (meaning they can have a hard time bonding with certain peoples skin).
Just FYI , good luck with who and what ever you choose.
