Halo Spawning. Bungie vs 343

I remember in HALO 3, bungie released a video of why the spawns were messed up… and they fixed it. It was around early 2008. They saw a video of an MLG player spawn sniping and WATCHING them spawn on The Pit. The MLG player was, Strong someone… cant really remember his full name.

Now, I never had issues with Spawning in 3 or reach or any Other game for that matter! People just tend to say spawning sucks.

But in HALO 4; MY GOD… I’m playing SNIPERS on the biggest map in the game, and I’m walking and 2 players spawn RIGHT 10 feet in front of me. REALLY? Just appearing out of no where.

Whats sad is that bungie set out to fix it in 2007… but its 2013 and we are getting nothing.

That kind of stuff goes in the bulletins, like this one.

> That kind of stuff goes in the bulletins, like this one.

Actually… no it doesnt. All they did was look at shutout… and move some spawns around. Thats literally all.

The spawns in this game seem to work based on connections. I Made a forge map as a test with 14 spawn points up top and 2 on bottom. ALL RANDOM POINTS.

The players with the best connection always spawn on the bottom two points. NO MATTER if its a weaker spawn zone or stronger.

343 doesnt seem to use the weak or strong zones the same way bungie used them

I was just pointing out your exaggeration that they do nothing. So they shouldn’t move spawns? Not sure what you want exactly.
And making a video on it would just generate the present FIXITFIXIT mentality.

What I want? I already said what I want.

I want them to take charge like bungie did in 2007-2008 and fix the spawns how they did :stuck_out_tongue:

Alright, so fix spawns in a different way. Was just getting confused, that’s all.

I was playing one of the new forge maps, and I started as the flood, I spawned directly next to 2 Spartans, double kill off the bat. Did 343i not check and make sure that these maps were fit for matchmaking?

Strongside was his name. T2 will always be my favorite pro

Spawning has always been an issue on Halo games.

I remember spawn ganking all my fellow firefighters by taking the hill on battle creek. The guys would not even play the map with me in the game because I abused it so bad (win one for the rookie firefighter)

I remember the ungodly spawn camps on burial mounds in Halo 2

I remember spawn forcing on foundry (Halo 3) and getting killionares in SWAT.

I remember sitting at the edge of the elite spawn on spire on Reach.

If anything it’s gotten better on Halo 4 - at least in BTB where I play - Spawns are much more dynamic and with the exception of settler I find I don’t get spawn ganked very often.

REACH spawn system was pretty crap as well.

Have you tried posting your concerns in the War Games Feedback section? That’s a specialized section of the forums with pre-made threads for each playlist (plus two extra threads – one for weapons feedback, and one for submitting maps to the Community Cartographers).

Feel free to post your concerns there – as well as any solutions you may have in mind. It’ll ensure that the MM Systems Team sees your thoughts.

From what I’ve been hearing, those maps were originally intended for Slayer, Objective, or both. They weren’t designed around Flood, but they work very well for it because of the Thruster Pack.

That’s probably why the spawns are messed up. Feel free to pay a visit to either the Matchmaking Bug Reporting or Flood Feedback threads in War Games Feedback, and report the issue there.

sir i would put on my flamesuit if i were you, you did the unthinkable…you remembered that bungie made mistakes! “runs away yelling about how bungie is perfect in every way and somehow 343 made reach”

When I think of Halo spawns, my first thought is of uncage from reach. I you’re down at sniper spawn, and you walk toward the small ramp leading to sniper spawn, it’s is entirely possible for the enemy to spawn between you and the sniper. this happened to me a number of times. check my reach file share if you don’t believe me.

It would be more efficienct to have a thread for General War Games Feedback, but there isn’t. Nor is there a thread in that forum for feedback on the community maps already in matchmaking.

The map he’s talking about sounds a lot like Black Site.

Those 3 community maps in Flood aren’t fun for the gametype. Thruster Pack isn’t a saving grace for them, nor should it be.

The reason why the Spawn system is different than Halo 3 or Halo: Reach is because the Spawn Areas work differently than they used to in past games. Halo: Reach had the best system for setting up spawns on maps, and I knew how to handle them extremely well. Within Halo 4, I had to find out how much 343i changed the algorithms and settings just so I could properly use them again.

Yes the map was black site.

I can safely say I’ve never had a gripe with spawns in any of the Halo games, ever. So, in my opinion, they do just as well as BUNGiE in this field.

I just took my flame-suit off. I am a firefighter instructor after all.
