I’ve had Halo: Spartan Assault on Windows 8 since the day it released over 6 months ago, and in that time it has remained completely unplayable on my PC since the moment I purchased it (which was also before the free trial version was available). While the first Title Update back in August fixed the initial problem I experienced, it was immediately replaced by a new one, as described by my original thread here: https://forums.halowaypoint.com/Default.aspx?g=posts&t=223513&
I still have this issue whenever attempting to run the game, and my support topic has not gotten any new responses in three months… Over which time the topic has apparently become locked, hence why I’m posting this. I was able to play the game in the meantime by installing the Windows 8.1 Preview on a family computer, but it wasn’t a very practical workaround and I was only ever able to get enough time to power through it. Besides, the preview has since expired making it completely impossible to play the game I purchased. While I’ve given up on ever seeing a fix for my PC (as I said to begin with, I understand my PC isn’t exactly cutting edge), it just really sucks that I’m completely unable to play something I paid for, especially when there was literally no way for me to know at the time of purchase. I just want to play my game, and while the Xbox 360 version should be coming any day now, I really don’t want to rebuy something I already purchased and yet can’t play…
Here’s my DxDiag and screenshot from the original thread, just for the heck of it:

We’ve passed this information on and are waiting for direction from the Spartan Assault team.
Hi, WhiteRabbitEXE. We pushed out another update to the game. Could you download it and let me know if it resolves your issue, please?
- Launch the store
- Open the charms bar
- Select “Settings”
- Select “App Updates”
- Select “Check for updates”
Ah, sorry to hear that. Just heard back from the team and while this is on their plate to fix, they don’t have a time frame for when that fix will be released. Many apologies for not being able to offer you more specifics about the expected resolution.
It’s all good, I’m just glad to hear more even if it’s not much. I just got frustrated after months of silence, ya know. I ended up buying the 360 version anyway, so I can still play it, but it would be nice to toy around on PC still too. Thanks for the responses though!

Absolutely understandable. Feel free to pop in every now and again for updates on this issue. And happy to hear you’re enjoying it on another platform in the meantime.
Hey, me again. Just checking in, seeing if there’s any progress.

Just out of curiosity, have you tried updating the drivers for your graphics? It seems your driver dates back to 2009, which seems like it is probable your drivers are out-of-date.
Open up Device Manager by Right-Clicking the far bottom-left corner of the taskbar. Then Right-Click on your display adapter(s) and Properties for it. Tab over to Drivers and then Update Drivers. Have it search automatically online. See if that alleviates your issue.

No dice. My driver is currently at the most recent version (8.15.10.2697 from 10/1/2012) and the issue still persists. I was actually using that version prior to uploading the DxDiag log as well, but I had reformatted my computer some time ago and for a while only the previous version would install (honestly I don’t even know when I managed to get the latest version back haha).
Thanks though, I appreciate it either way!
Unfortunately, we do not have any additional information at this time. If this changes, we’ll be sure to provide updates.
