Fun read. I really enjoyed seeing the Chief before he became the hero of humanity. He seems less mature and inexperienced, which fits with the timeline. There were some things I wish were fleshed out more (see spoiler). I wish I had time right now to give you a proper review, but overall this was a great book and well worth the purchase
like how the insurrectionists seem to be consolidating power, which is not explored as deeply as I would have liked. Hector Nyeto’s back story was cool to learn though. Bringing back Johnson for another story was my favorite part as well as exploring some other Spartan’s like Daisy. A lot of potential for other books about the beginnings of the Covenant War that focus on other Spartans or even just other characters
