Halo Silenced Weapons - The Truth

Ok, I feel this needs to be said. I don’t want halo to have silenced weapons unless they are actually useful. From my knowledge and experience Halo ODST’s silenced SMG had absolutely no purpose other than to sound cool. Besides, as far as Halo 4 is concerned I don’t think silencers will be helpful against forerunners, or flood, or covenant for that matter. I think 343 should try to be really innovative with halo weapons in the future.

Ok, thank you captain obvious.

TL;DR - Silenced weapons are useless.

I’d love to have some suppressed sniper rifle action in Halo 4. There’s been a few missions in the Halo games where a silenced sniper could have worked (Truth and Reconcilliation, The Ark, Nightfall).

I think the Sniper Rifle would be the only weapon that could work silenced. The enemies in Halo are quite tough to kill compared to other games (Call of Duty for example), so by the time you’ve killed one guy everyone else knows where you are. With a Sniper Rifle it’s insta-kill most of the time so you can kill the enemies silently and quickly.

Moar stealth missions please.

I think the argument against silenced weapons in Halo 4 can best be summed up by a single sentence: Master Chief is a soldier, not an assassin or a spy. It worked for ODST because stealth was a requirement of their mission; even if Master Chief were to come across a situation in which he decided to employ stealth, a typical battlefield wouldn’t exactly be replete with silenced weapons, and so he would just have to make do.

I agree completely. I did like that silenced/armor-piercing pistol though, but I don’t see MC ever needing it.

Lololol agreed, I don’t think Master Chief jumps feet first into hell with a silencer xD. Save the silencers for odsts, they do black op missions all the time.

Spartans have motion trackers, and I’m sure Forerunners/Precursors have them too. There is no purpose for silencers.

Silencers are fun, but only in campaign, they have their uses, but they are pointless.

Supressed weapons were in halo odst for cannon and the fact that the odsts actually needed them for there type of combat so don’t expect to see surpressed weapons used by MC

While agree they are fun, and should remain in campaign, but by saying “they have their uses, but they are pointless” isn’t that kind of contradicting?

Yes, they have their uses for stealth mission, which is what ODSTs do best. But if you’re a seven foot tall spartan in green armor that weighs a ton, with a shiny gold visor, using silencers are pointless, you would stick out like a seven foot tall loud mouth in a Japanese subway.

I really want to see them in Halo 4, especially in the campaign.
